This is one of those things that feels very strange to write about now, because my husband and I, we’re finally on the other side of it.

For almost 2 years, there was always something we were waiting for — a visa, an approval, an update, another approval. And for almost a year, there was… nothing. No news from the government, no idea when we’d hear back.

Meanwhile, we were trying to build a normal life in Newfoundland while not knowing how permanent it would actually be.

Today, we have our PR cards in our hands. And somehow, that makes the whole thing feel much more real ❤️

If you’ve ever had a period in your life where you were just waiting for an answer that could change everything — what was it?

A lot of life in Newfoundland started with a big question mark — where we’d live, whether I’d even make it to Canada, and when we’d finally have some certainty.

Now we have our PR cards in our hands❤️

I’m incredibly grateful for this chapter, and proud of the life we’re building here — one hike, adventure, and new experience at a time.

If you’re also building a new life in Canada, I’d love to hear your story 🇨🇦

Summer 2026 recap 👆

I almost said no to this one.

Not because I didn’t want to go sailing — I was just exhausted and had been saying no to a lot of spontaneous plans lately.

Then my husband told me Trevor was taking the running group sailing to Kelly’s Island, I asked if I could join, and a few hours later… we were on his boat in Conception Bay 😄

New people, a remote island, a new trail, chanterelles, swimming off the boat, lunch in the sun…

One of those days that makes you really glad you said yes.

And it made me realize that sometimes having a good life isn’t about filling it with more things.

It’s also about leaving enough space to have the energy for the unexpected ones.

What’s the best spontaneous thing you’ve said yes to lately?👇

Turns out a perfect day isn’t one where everything goes exactly as planned.

It could be just a day outside, good people, a few unexpected little moments, and not rushing 🌱

Spending it on East Coast Trail, Newfoundland & Labrador helps as well!

Honestly, I think I could use more days like this.

What does your perfect day outside look like? 👇

I think I’ve been treating the short Newfoundland summer like a checklist.

Climb more + hike more + swim more + fish, forage, explore. Make memories, and fit all of it in these 2 months while the weather is still nice.

And somehow, the more I tried to fit in, the more I felt like I was falling behind.

It’s almost the end of my second summer here, and the lesson I got: summer doesn’t have to be maximized to be meaningful.

Maybe some of the best days are the ones you didn’t plan, when you just lie on a beach for a few hours and let yourself exist.

Tell me I’m not the only one who gets that weird feeling that I’m “wasting summer” whenever I’m not doing something 🫠

I think summer in Newfoundland had other plans for me 😂

I definitely didn’t expect that I’d be spending this summer fishing!

What started as me just tagging along with my husband Petro Yanitskiy as he began fishing has somehow turned into me actually fishing myself — and I really love it!
