Earlier this week, I promised two big announcements, and this first one is huge for me.
FilmmakerLife Magazine is putting me on the cover of an upcoming issue, with a feature about my documentary journey.
It’s an international indie film magazine in print and digital, and seeing my name there feels almost unreal. Four features, eighty-plus international accolades, and now this.
I am genuinely humbled. Thank you to my wife and kids, to every person who let me into their lives on camera, to my sponsors, and to everyone who’s bought a ticket, shared a post, or said keep going.

Huge news — The Northern Venture has earned an Honourable Mention for Documentary Feature at the Toronto Film Awards. I’m so grateful to see this film continuing to make waves on the international festival circuit.

And the journey continues at home: the premiere is this Monday at the Strand, kicking off a three-month residency.

Two years ago today, Netting the Waters premiered.

This Monday, my fourth feature documentary, Northern Venture, premieres at the Strand Theatre in Simcoe. 🎬❤️
Four films completed within 2.5 years and over 80 international accolades later, I still find it hard to believe where that first step has taken me. Never in a million years did I imagine any of this would happen.
The awards mean so much, but seeing people come out, fill those seats, and connect with the stories I’ve poured my heart into means more than I can put into words.
To my community, my viewers, and everyone who has bought a ticket, shared a post, encouraged me, or believed in my work—thank you. You’ve given these films an audience and me the courage to keep going.
Looking back at this memory today, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. What an incredible two years. And it’s all because of you. ❤️

Northern Venture is settling in for a three-month residency at the Simcoe Strand Theatre! 🚢🎬 I’m thrilled to share this Great Lakes journey on the big screen, right here in our community.

With currently 22 international film festival accolades.
This is Daryl's 4th Feature award winning Documentary in less then 2.5 years.

You can purchase tickets in one of three ways:
1: at the door on the day of the show
2: in-person in advance during our usual box office hours
3: online in advance here: https://simpli.events/u/strand-theatre-simcoe
Online tickets close 24 hours before the show. IF a show is sold out, that info will be prominently displayed on our website, and we'll make sure to post it here on Facebook too. If you see nothing indicating a sellout in those places, then there are tickets available.

Some amazing news for Northern Venture this week!
My newest documentary, Northern Venture, will be released in select theatres beginning October 26.

Northern Venture Won Best Feature Documentary at the Oniros Film Awards in New York.

This also makes it my fourth feature-length documentary in just over two years to receive international accolades. I want to thank everyone who's offered words of encouragement, called, stopped in, or taken the time to talk with me about the films and going the the theatres to see the films. I truly appreciate the interest and support.

There's still a long way to go with Northern Venture in the film festival circuit.
