There is no experience like sitting across the table from a friend and being pulled into a good story. The scene is set, the details pull you in, and you can't leave before finding out how the whole thing ends up. While some people are masters of the traditional storytelling method; I am not one of them. But that's why I love filmmaking: it creates a world of possibilities for non-traditional stor

ytellers like me. Armed with my camera, I am able to use light, darkness, depth of field, focal length, movement, and sound to tell stories in an entirely different way. I may not always have the words to describe the impact of an organization, a person, or an idea - but I am able to do that through film.

Since we are in the New Year, I made a new website featuring some new work and a new headshot (by my favorite photographer, Judith Mattie Photographer) :)

A new music video that I have been looking forward to sharing for a long time! Last Fall, I teamed up with Jessica Rhaye & The Ramshackle Parade for a day of filming for their cover of Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind". We had a blast driving around and shooting in some of our favorite spots in Hampton and Saint John, before bringing it all together with a few random passersby for the ending. Check it out. You may even recognize a few spots 🧐

A video I made with Jessica Rhaye and the Ramshackle Parade featured on Grid City Magazine. Check out their stunning cover of Dylan's "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine".

Rhaye and Co. continue their string of beautiful videos with the release of I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine, off the album Just Like a Woman – Songs of Bob Dylan.

Here is a quick promo video that I made of a recent Imagine NB event hosted by the New Brunswick Multicultural Council / Conseil multiculturel du N.-B. It was great to see so many young entrepenuers seeking to learn from some of the province's most succesful business leaders.

I had a great time shooting and editing this piece for the YMCA of Greater Saint John. In addition to telling three incredible stories about newcomers to our city, I also: ate a lot of fresh bread, tried some new foods, and learned a new card game to play with my wife! (Thanks Praveen Choudhary).

A few summers ago I dropped Adyn Townes a random email about an idea I had. We were both going to be at Stanfest in a few weeks, so why not shoot a music video... in the woods? This is what we ended up with. A captivating performance of "Paris Sky" amidst the lush spruce trees on a drizzly afternoon in Canso. It gives me the chills every time I watch it.

My recent video for the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Assoc tells the story of how fish farming in Atlantic Canada grew from a few hobby farms in the 80's to the major industry that it is today. Big thanks to Deborah Irvine Anderson of Canteen Media and Kathy Kaufield for making everything come together so beautifully. You have many skills that I do not possess!

We are wrapping up (and looking forward to sharing) a wonderful new video about the 30-year history of the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Assoc. Huge thanks to Kathy Kaufield and Deborah Irvine Anderson of Canteen Media for guiding and molding the whole thing into moving tribute to our fish farming community. Until the video is ready to be posted, here are a few behind the scenes shots:

During the filming of this promotional video, it didn’t take me long to see that Touchstone Academy is not your typical elementary school. The teachers have an enthusiasm that is electric and the kids are motivated to learn. When a student develops an interest in a particular topic, that interest is fostered and the student is encouraged to run with it. The joy of learning is palpable. However, some of the most interesting insights came from hearing Touchstone parents talk about the impact the school has had on their children. One father summed it up well when he said, “Touchstone teaches kids to learn how to learn. And that’s crucial because that’s lifelong”.

Check out the video below or visit: www.touchstoneacademy.ca for more info.

Wayne Murphy, of Lancaster Baptist Church, has played a key role in welcoming many Syrian refugees to Saint John. In this short piece that I shot for Acadia Divinity College, Wayne shares how it all came about, and gives some helpful advice to people who may be hesitant about welcoming newcomers.
