Yesterday, I had the honour of spending a sweltering afternoon with the McKinnons in a down-the-line, down-on-the-farm country wedding. I loved every second of it! Give me all the country weddings!

Rylee and Isaiah wanted a simple and carefree wedding day and I think the day was just that. I joined the entourage at Rylee's dad's farm for their nuptials. They were married under an apple tree, but not before walking through an aisle of sunflowers. If you can, always have a wedding aisle of sunflowers. I promise, there's nothing better!

The ceremony was speedy fast--but I think everyone was okay with that, considering how hot the temperatures soared. All week and all morning, rain and cool weather was forecasted. But right when the ceremony started, the sun appeared and it got hot! And the sun continued to shine down on the rest of their day.

After the nuptials, we took family pictures in the sunflowers before jumping on four-wheelers and side-by-sides for bridal portraits in the field with my other favourite photo prop, hay bales! Shot guns, cowboy boots, and endless shenanigans highlighted the photos, before we returned to the barn for a delicious feast of BBQ.

Riley was surprised by her family with her grandfather's 1920s vintage car that he built himself. She may not admit it, but I saw the tear in her eye when it pulled up! Naturally, we had to take some photos with it, as well as the old tractor named Thumper.

The day was hot, but easy and relaxing. It was all about two massive families coming together, having a good time, and celebrating young love. It was pretty special to witness how much love and support these two have as they begin the next journey of their life.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. McKinnon! Safe travels on your honeymoon out west!

Yesterday, I got to check off another bucket list item for me: photograph a greenhouse wedding. And it was everything I imagined and more.

I kicked off my double-header wedding weekend yesterday with the nuptials of Natasja and Suneel.

I've had the privilege of knowing Natasja for a few years now, since I captured her nursing graduation photos during the pandemic. Last year, she reached out to me for wedding photos and I was so excited to see her name back in my inbox.

The day was perfection in so many ways. It started off with me eating at The Copper Bean--and if you know me, you know this is my favourite sandwich shop, so I was happy from the bounce--because the guys were getting ready upstairs at the little AirBnB. There was endless heckling as they struggled to tie ties. Suneel looked impeccable in his green suit.

Down the highway, the ladies got dressed at the most eclectic Victorian farmhouse that just made my heart sing. Every nook was picture perfect-even the laundry hanging on the line was photogenic! We laughed and popped champagne before heading back to Desberats to Lawrence's Springwater Farms, Natasja's family home for the nuptials.

If you've never been to Lawrence's Springwater Farms, then you're missing out. This place has it all. A rustic barn served as the perfect backdrop for first looks between the bride and her dad and the bride and groom. Cute bridges, endless florals, and rolling fields created endless photo moments.

The two tied the knot in a sunny ceremony beneath a willow tree. 120 of their closet friends and families laughed and cried as they shared heartfelt vows, before enjoying a crispy Coke bar and then returning to the Soo to Grand Gardens North for the reception.

Yummy food, more florals, and a nod to Suneel's family heritage highlighted the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Khamb wowed everyone when they changed into traditional Indian clothing for the dancefloor, and Suneel's family, who came all the way from the Philippines for the big day, gifted the bride beautiful traditional bangles from back home.

I've gotten to know these two well over the last year through various photoshoots. And let me tell you, these two are the real deal. They are in love. Absolutely smitten with each other. You can't wipe the smiles off their faces when they're around each other. My heart is happy so happy they found each other.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Khamb. Have a blast on the honeymoon!

If you don't have a best friend to make bad decisions with, then you're missing out. 🀣

Yesterday, my bestie and I hit the road to kayak in Lake Superior Provincial Park. It was the first time I got to visit the park since moving to the island. If you know me, you know this is my ultimate happy place and the MKP branded turquoise is actually colour-matched from a photo I took 20 years ago in the park of the water. 🌊

Launching plastic Canadian Tire special kayaks in the big lake during a rain storm with wind will go down as one of our stupidest ideas to date, but it's what we do. Thankfully, I'm a good swimmer. Not sure about Danika... she may have white-knuckled her paddle at one point and was preying to Mishipeshu. πŸ™ Mrs. Montgomery, please forgive me. 😬

We didn't get far before it became too dangerous and had to turn back and adventure more along the shoreline coves. And that was also an asinine idea. Let's just say, I may have had to dump my kayak three times, my camera was floating in my kayak at one point, and I ended up in the lake. My poor camera experienced absolute trauma yesterday.

I believe in safety when I do photoshoots. But apparently not when it comes to me just having a good time.

My face hurts from laughing so much. My shoulders are sore from epic battling over three-foot swells. And the burnout I've been feeling this summer has disappeared after spending some time on the big water. Sometimes, you just need to get lost in nature. Or make dumb decisions.

No one was physically harmed in the making of these photos. Emotional damage, however, may have incurred. 🀣

Chasin' waterfalls. 🌊

This week's off-roading adventure was an absolute delight. Amber, you are positively glowing and absolutely fearless. Nothing stops her from exploring... including a 35-week baby bump. πŸ’ͺ I am in awe.
