New houses here start, sorry condos, start at $450,000 so other regions of Alberta definitely drag down that average home price.

Avg Income:
2006 - $41,400
2026 - $67,000

62% increase.

Avg House Price:
2006 - $256,000
2026 - $670,000

167% increase.

If home prices had grown at the same pace as avg income, the average home would cost about $415,000 today.

šŸ¦ THE LAST SCOOP: Our Annual Fundraiser for Morning Star
It’s time for our yearly end-of-season tradition! Help us empty the freezers at Ross Street Ice Cream Co. while supporting Morning Star, Red Deer’s women-only drop-in centre.
šŸ“… September 12 & 13
šŸ¦ All cones and scoops—any size—just $4
ā³ While supplies last!
We normally sell most of our remaining ice cream on the first day, but if there’s anything left, we’ll keep scooping on Sunday.

We’ll also be collecting cash donations and urgently needed supplies for Morning Star.

Their greatest current needs are:

• Socks
• Conditioner
• New women’s underwear in all sizes
• Tampons and other menstrual products
• Body wash

They can also use deodorant, razors, microwaveable ramen and other easy-to-prepare food.

Bring your donations to Ross Street Ice Cream Co., enjoy one last scoop of the season and help us fill Morning Star’s shelves! ā¤ļø

This cat perfectly captures my frustration trying to check my long posts/replies for typos. It's so annoying that Facebook hides half the text, forcing me to click MORE, while I'm reading or going back to screenshot what I wrote. The text is there already, it's not like it's being stored in another dimension somewhere until I click the more prompt. Just show me the whole thing! Another total Facebook fail.

Dear Property Developers in Red Deer,

Every time I post something about tiny homes I get a lot of positive likes and comments.

Something to think about, eh?

Isn't it time to bring the tiny home (500sqft and under) concept - home to Red Deer?

The growing majority of residents don't want, or can afford, 1,500 square foot $500,000 homes.

Know your buyers!

The long weekend doesn't mean anything to me. But I think I'm going to take a break from social media on Monday instead of Sunday. I have an appointment early Tuesday morning to deal with.
