Weathered by wind, salt and time, old wooden boats like this are a familiar reminder of the Outer Hebrides’ deep connection to the sea.

For generations, islanders relied on small wooden boats to fish the wild Atlantic waters surrounding these remote islands. Built tough for unpredictable seas and often pulled ashore after a day’s work, they were an essential part of everyday Hebridean life.

Today, when you come across one resting quietly in the machair, it feels like a little piece of island history left behind — slowly becoming part of the landscape. ⚓️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There’s something about the wild, windswept landscapes of South Uist that feels untouched by time. 🤍

The magic is in the editing…. Some days you head out hoping you will have perfect conditions for your photography. That’s not always the case as in these photos. It was a rainy grey day but the stag was still just as beautiful. That’s the part of photography I love you get to create art. You have a vision in your head for the raw photograph you take and through editing you can use your creative side to complete the vision you had.

Somewhere in the Outer Hebrides, I was reminded that not every moment needs a plan or a destination. Sometimes you just stop, watch the light change, and realize how lucky you are to be exactly where you are.
