Up next at Rickshaw Theatre were Victoria's venerable thrash/death masters Torrefy who brought us the most punishing set of the night. It's been far too long since I've has these fine gents in front of the lens and I certainly missed that.

I'm trying out a new way to present my photos, so I hope you like what I've got in store. Be sure to like and comment on this post to feed the algorithm gods and get more people to see what's happening in live music these days.

So last weekend Iron Kingdom decided to release their 7th studio album and W.M.D. also had a new release coming out. So the two metal bands united for an epic Vancouver release party and brought along Victoria's Torrefy and Seattle's smart-dressed Hyperstrike. Up first we have the gents in Hyperstrike Band:

Alestorm chanted a bunch of crowd pleasers to a "bloodthirsty" cutlass wielding crowd in Tortuga last weekend. Err...wait...not Tortuga, it was the pirate port city known as Vancouver (almost the same thing, no?). They even dedicated the final song (F* with an Anchor) to each and every junior buccaneer that was packed into the rum-filled Commodore Ballroom.

Next up as part of Alestorm's 'Mostly Canadian Tour' at Vancouver's famous Commodore Ballroom was adventure metal veterans Twilight Force bringing all the costumes and some serious shredding along with powerful dual vocalists Allyon and Krysthara.

Greyhawk opened up Alestorm's 'Mostly Canadian Tour' at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom this past weekend with guest vocalist Dan Cleary rounding out the Seattle heavy metal bands' roster. Next up is Twilight Force, so stay tuned.

Hyperspace Metal Festival 2026 - Day Three

***Link to 230+ picture gallery from day 3 in the comments below***
On our final night of this fine festival (maybe forever?) we moved on over to my home away from home: Rickshaw Theatre.
Opening up the show was the return of 1980s Canadian heavy metal legends Witchkiller. Following that up we had a double dose of prog metal with Voidchaser (Montreal) and Artificial Language (Fresno). Fantasy/D&D metal storytellers Owlbear finally made it for this years' fest (they had to cancel last year) and played to a crowd who were anticipating their performance for quite some time. And finishing off the final night was Seattle's Sanctuary playing Into the Mirror Black in its entirety.

Thanks to Journeyman Productions once again for having me out, all the bands for smiling at the camera, The Cobalt and Rickshaw Theatre for being great venues in our fine city and everyone who supports what I do (like Mason Henniger)

/Cheers

Glacial Mutilation Metal Festival 2026

Though I was only able to make it to day 3 of the festival there were seven incredible bands that hit the Rickshaw Theatre stage.

Here are some pictures of all seven: Opal In Sky, Exuvial, VINTERSEA, Cyborg Octopus, Blighted Eye, Embrium and FloodGate. Be sure to check out the link to the 230+ image gallery in the comments below.

Cheers to all my patrons, including Mason Henniger. Big thanks to Colton Jeremy Hession/Journeyman Productions for having me out and Rickshaw Theatre for being the best place to catch a metal show in Vancouver.
