Hey! This is me! I am a Vancouver Island-based wedding photographer drawn to the beauty of human nature. Through a documentary-style approach, I strive to deliver reflections that remind you of just how wonderful life is.

Have you ever wished for just one more day with someone you’ve lost? Most of us wouldn’t plan anything extraordinary—we’d walk together, talk, share a meal, and simply be in each other’s presence. It’s not the details we miss most, but the feeling of being together. That’s what I look for when I photograph people. The in-between moments: shared jokes, gentle embraces, laughter, and connection as it naturally unfolds.

My hope is to capture those moments and reflect them back to you—images that honor your relationships and the beauty of your human nature, laugh lines, muddy shoes and all.

Kira & Kirk
~14-03-2025~

Family flew in from Europe, the rhododendrons were beginning to bloom, dad brought out the bubble machine early, and the newlyweds enjoyed their own private carousel ride. A magical, botanical, family-filled celebration.

At Butchart Gardens, Kira and Kirk married in the Spring Prelude Indoor Garden where orchids and tropical deep greenery set the scene. Filled with natural light, this intimate space keeps cozy and warm during the winter months when weddings are permitted to take place at this National Historic Site of Canada.

With 55 acres of gardens, the possibilities here are endless. It truly is a breathtaking and special space. As I wandered around beforehand, one of the employees told me that there are over 100 staff and volunteers who have been at Butchart for 30+ years. After experiencing just a touch of the magic here, I understand why!

Congratulations K&K on your most special day and the sweetest love story. ♥

A celebration across the seas. Travelling from Australia, these two married among the lavender fields of Bilston Creek Farm on Vancouver Island. Most of their guests were also from Australia, who took the long journey to celebrate K&B's love story.

They exchanged heartfelt vows in the timber-frame barn, where lavender bundles were strung to dry. Afterwards, they shared wood-fired pizza in the orchard with their guests, and enjoyed speeches and toasts after that.

To finish, or shall I say, start the night off? the entire guest list shifted via bus charter to The Duke Saloon. A well-worn country bar in the downtown Victoria area, you'll find bovine skulls on the walls here, and a giant photo of a shirtless cowboy. This sets the scene as they rocked the floorboards to the live band, The Pickups, and shared a simple heart-shaped cake that read "Just Married."

It was fun, and playful, with a powerful sense of community. A wedding I'll never forget! Congratulations K&B!

Kara & Brandon are MARRIED!

Congratulations to the lovely couple on their intimate wedding celebration and love story. On a mild February day, the pair married among their closest family members, including their baby girl ♥

It was peaceful and perfect, with the expansive low tide setting the scene. It felt like they had the beach to themselves in that moment.

Prior to the ceremony, they met in the forest to share their vows. Instead of reading aloud to one another, they read each others quietly for a truly private exchange.

Wishing you two so much love! And thank you for choosing the Tigh-the-Knot wedding package with Tigh-Na-Mara Resort to host this memory.

My secret sauce for getting natural, candid photos at a family photoshoot:

>Posing guidance. I will ALWAYS beat the common question, "What do I do with my hands?"

>Prompts! I have a ton of little games I like to play with families and children of all ages. From telling me what your dad's desired superpower is, or drawing a number on your neck and giving me the answer in your best Russian accent- it's the in between smiles and genuine expressions that shine through.

>Movement. Moving our bodies is as natural as it gets! Body language looks true here, and taking little walking breaks in between being photographed allows connection with your photographer and a moment to totally relax.

Posing + Prompts + Movement = Candid!

Vanessa and Zeke’s October wedding took place at the ever-popular Tigh-Na-Mara Resort on a beautifully moody autumn day. October 28th has long held meaning for these two, and they were more than willing to embrace whatever Vancouver Island weather decided to deliver. As anyone who plans an October wedding on the Island knows, it’s always a gamble — sunshine and mild temperatures, steady rain, or, in this case, powerful winds accompanied by a weather warning.

The dramatic conditions didn’t faze them in the slightest. If anything, the storm added to the romance and intimacy of the day. All 18 guests cozied up beneath the shelter of the gazebo, with lap blankets and full hearts to keep warm.

When we made our way down to the beach, the storm really showed off. In less than five minutes, my cameras were completely covered in rain! Photographing in rain isn’t usually a problem for me, except that these sideways winds were wicked! The wind was relentless, the usually calm ocean churned with whitecaps, and Vanessa’s dress whipped dramatically in every direction. Even the seagulls seemed entertained by the chaos.

The colors especially popped on this moody day, as well as those just-married smiles! Congratulations, you two!

Throwback to last May when one of my dreams came true; photographing a wedding in YOSEMITE FREAKING VALLEY!

My partner and I were on a road trip around the USA last Spring and spent one heavenly week in Yosemite Valley. It's impossible to convey just how special this place is in any words. The experience and energy of this natural space fills me with wonder, an aching beauty, and sore legs ;) The mountains are endless here, and breathtaking really takes on a new meaning as you work the elevation while looking at such inspiring views.

I was over the moon when I connected with Courtenay and Michael for their wedding, and was so grateful they trusted me with leading them around for photo spots. Earlier that week, Glacier Point Road opened up and I fell in love with Sentinel Dome. Totally spontaneous and unplanned, I asked C&M if they'd like to meet at sunset later that day (yes, on their wedding day!) I told them I found a shortcut route to get to the top quicker. They said YES!

Hiking up the last 20 meters in snow, Courtenay was full of adrenaline as I helped pack in snow with my hiking boots. It was surreal watching the sunset up there, with Yosemite Falls looking mighty in the distance, where they exchanged vows earlier that day.

Ahhhh! Pinch me!! Did I really get to do this!!

Erika and George are ENGAGED!

For their engagement photos, these two expressed their wishes for West Coast landscapes and ferns. I knew the just the spot. Tucked away in Nanoose Bay, Moorecroft Park was the perfect place.

This 35-hectare park is indeed "Nurtured by Nature" as the community slogan goes. With many walking trails, evergreen forests, rocky cliffs, a pebbly beach, driftwood, and plenty of ferns- it has it all.

It was lovely getting to know these two better, and I am SO excited to document their West Coast WEDDING!
