Every now and then, I like to use Facebook to ask for a little help or share something with my network. https://www.anitaruivo.com/ottawa-host-family
Some of you may know that my creative partner, Anita Ruivo, works with international students from Spain who come to Ottawa for a few months to attend local high schools and experience everyday Canadian family life.
Right now, she's looking for a few welcoming host families for this autumn.
The students are here from September 11 to November 7 and attend school during the week, just like local students. Host families provide a private bedroom, meals, and a supportive home environment. Families receive reimbursement, and Anita is available throughout the program to answer questions, provide guidance, and help ensure everyone has a positive experience.
At the moment, she's looking for homes for:
• Two Grade 10 girls attending Brookfield High School (ideally with good access to OC Transpo)
• One Grade 10 boy attending Riverside South High School (he has a peanut allergy and also needs a pet-free home)
Over the years, I've learned from Anita how much these exchanges mean—not just for the students, but often for the families who welcome them into their homes. It's an opportunity to share everyday life, learn about another culture, and create friendships that often continue long after the program ends.
If hosting sounds like something your family might enjoy—or if you know someone who may be interested—I would really appreciate it if you could pass this along.

Thank you for helping spread the word!
