Storytelling will save us | Coffee & Click, episode 18

Since starting this project earlier this year, one topic of conversation has come up more often than the others: AI. Especially when talking with other creatives.

It unavoidable. It's caused such a major disruption in our world in a short period of time. Many creative endeavours have been side-tracked by it.

Unfortunately, writer and communications specialist Karen Allen has seen her business be disrupted by AI. Like many, she has been forced to adapt and change course because of it.

Like me, Karen believes there are 2 domains where AI has yet to catch up to us mere creative mortals, which are storytelling and human connections. We both believe that these will be what saves us, ultimately, because the machines aren't able to replicate them.

Yet. And let's hope that doesn't change anytime soon. But that's up to all of us, as a society, ultimately.

Je souhaite raconter l'histoire d'une voiture unique. Ce pourrait être un "muscle car" américain des années 60-70, une importation japonaise spéciale, ou encore un modèle unique de l'après-guerre.

L'objectif est de trouver un bel emplacement dans la région pour la séance de photos. Ensuite, je vais soumettre le tout à Road & Track et à d'autre magazines du genre.

Calling all car enthusiasts! How would you like to have your car featured in a magazine like Road & Track?

I am looking for a car with a story to tell. I'm thinking about a classic American muscle car from the 60s or 70s, a funky Japanese import, or a one-of-a-kind model from the postwar era.

The goal is to find a beautiful location in the area to serve as the background for a photo session with this car, which I will then use to pitch to Road & Track and other car magazines.

In exchange, you will receive a set of digital images which you can share online and/or print and have framed to serve as a memento of your prized possession.

Please share with anyone who may be interested.

Fellow creators, I'm begging you.

Stop giving away your work for free! �

�If you've turned your passion into a profession, and you do work for someone and you're helping them grow their business, make sales and earn more money, you deserve to get paid. ��Nobody's going around and asking a plumber or an electrician to work for free.

But for some reason, it's acceptable to ask a photographer to shoot photos at an event or for a designer to create a logo in exchange for a mention on social media.��

It won't stop until we ALL agree to stop working for free. ��So let's start today. The next time you get such a request, let them know that this is how you earn a living and give them your rates.��

Je n'ai pas chômé ces dernières semaines! J'ai couvert plusieurs événements dans la capitale, j'ai créé des banque d'images de produits pour des entrepreneurs locaux et j'ai aussi pris le temps de travailler sur quelques projets personnels.

Ma créativité foisonne ces temos-ci et j'ai une foule de projets en tête. J'ai bien hâte de vous partager tout ça, alors restez à l'affût!

The past few weeks have me feeling great about my creativity and my place in the commercial photography space.

I've been fortunate enough to be asked to cover many events in and around Ottawa, from the Summer Soirée by Networking to Trivesta Group's Ice Cream Social and a farm-to-table dinner at Ferme Mariposa.

(Apologies for the missing tags, seems like FB is broken....)

I also made time for personal projects, including a fun concept with Arabella (more to come on this one!).

It's been exciting, and the next few weeks are lining up to be even more exciting, so stay tuned!
