Sometimes I think I should give up documentary photography and a get a studio. It seems like it’s what people want and I could get more bookings. But then I look back at my sessions and realize that if I did that, I couldn’t give people photos like this. No more spontaneous hugs and dancing in the kitchen makes my heart break. I’m not saying studio photos aren’t valuable or beautiful - they absolutely are. But I wish more people saw how incredible special and important this is. I can’t stop making photos like this even if I never make another cent from it.

Hot days and sprinklers. Three years later I’m missing these kids who would now rather watch YouTube than drink from the hose. If your kids are still in this stage, take all the photos! And maybe run through the sprinkler with them 😂

Summer is slipping away, have you been documenting it? Mom, are you in any of the photos?

Summer documentary sessions are the best! Weekends at the lake, evenings getting ice cream, beach days. I have lots of ideas, but I’m sure you do too. Anything you do with your family is worth documenting 🩵

Sleepy baby bath time yawns 🥰 I absolutely love when families let me document bath time with their newborn. It’s such a sweet little everyday thing to do. And we all remember if our babies loved or hated baths, don’t we?
