There is something so special about building a business that reflects who you truly are.

For me, photography has never just been about taking beautiful images.

It’s about telling the stories of childhood that deserve to be remembered.

It’s about creating a space where kids can explore, laugh, play, and simply be themselves, while families slow down and soak it all in.

It’s about turning fleeting moments, tiny hands, genuine smiles, and endless curiosity into artwork that will be cherished for generations.

Every child and every family I photograph reminds me why I chose this path.

I don’t just love being a photographer.

I love preserving authentic childhoods and the families who cherish them, one story at a time.

There’s something about summer light in the Kootenays that makes everything feel a little more open.

A portrait session with a wonderful friend Ayeisha , a bright afternoon, and a handful of images that capture a small slice of time.

No chasing perfect conditions, just embracing what was there. The warmth of the sun, the glow on her skin, and the way light and shadow danced across the landscape.

These kinds of portraits feel beautiful in a different way. Less about perfection, more about presence.

A friend, lots of laughs, and a few quiet moments in between.

This is what summer looks like.

Outdoor portrait sessions are beginning to book for August. Don't let another Kootenay summer slip by without creating artwork that tells your story.

Two more pieces completed!

Artwork drop off day is always my favourite day. Seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces when they see their finished pieces for the first time is absolutely priceless.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. ❤️

Or a slightly more playful version:

Two more pieces completed!

My favourite day is artwork drop off day. The smiles, the excitement, and seeing clients connect with a piece created just for them never gets old.

Those reactions are why I do what I do! 🌸

Photography and writing walk hand in hand for me, though they serve very different purposes.

I write to understand my own inner world. Photography allows me to sit quietly with a child and witness theirs.

Children live in a space many adults have forgotten. They feel deeply, dream freely, and carry an honesty that exists beyond words. They may not always be able to explain who they are, but their energy tells a story all its own.

When I photograph a child, I am not simply documenting how they look. I am listening. I am paying attention to the way they move through the world, what lights them up, where their curiosity lives, and how their spirit expresses itself. Every choice I make in the editing process, the light, the shadows, the colours, is intentionally crafted to reflect that essence.

For years, I have shared the photographs without sharing the thoughts behind them. Yet so much of my work is rooted in what I feel while sitting in the presence of a child. Children carry extraordinary wisdom. They teach us about resilience, wonder, joy, grief, courage, and imagination, often all at once.

This little one has experienced great loss in her young life. But what I saw was not loss. I saw strength. I saw a child learning how to hold both tenderness and courage in the same heart. I saw curiosity, beauty, and a spirit that refuses to stop exploring.

When I asked if she would like to get dressed up and let me do her hair, her face illuminated with excitement. She wasn’t becoming someone else. She was being given permission to fully step into the magic that already lived within her.

To me, children’s portraiture is a sacred act of witnessing. It is an opportunity to honour who a child is in this fleeting moment of their journey, before the world asks them to be anything different.

The art is never about creating something that wasn’t there. It is about seeing what has always been there and helping others see it too.

When the light hits just right, you don’t stay inside. You grab the gear, head out the door, and make the most of every golden minute. ☀️📷

Home is where your story lives.

There is something incredibly special about seeing family memories become part of a home’s everyday beauty. Seeing these custom wall art pieces displayed in my client’s living room, surrounded by the warmth and love they represent, is exactly why I love what I do.

Photographs are more than images, they are moments frozen in time, reminders of connection, laughter, growth, and the people who matter most. When thoughtfully displayed, they transform a house into a home.

Thank you for trusting me to capture and create these pieces for your space. Seeing your memories on the wall, where they can be enjoyed every day, is the greatest compliment.

Fort Steele, what a fascinating place.

Looking back on my experience there last year, I’m reminded of how much history is woven into every corner of this remarkable heritage town. Once a booming gold rush settlement in the late 1800s, Fort Steele offers a glimpse into life in British Columbia’s early days, with restored buildings, costumed interpreters, and stories that bring the past to life.

Walking its streets felt like stepping back in time, imagining the people who built their lives here and the challenges and triumphs they experienced. It’s one of those places that leaves you with a deeper appreciation for the history that helped shape the communities we know today.

A wonderful trip down memory lane and a place I would happily visit again.

Because my best friend is the bestiest of besties.

The kind of friendship that survives chaos, celebrates wins like they’re our own, and somehow even makes the hard seasons just a little lighter. We’ve shared dreams, tears, laughter that hurts your stomach, and enough photography talks to last a lifetime.

And honestly, one of my favourite things is getting to create alongside you. Watching your heart pour into your art is such a gift.

Sarah, you are one of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing, and even luckier, calling my bestie. Life is sweeter, louder, and far more magical with you in it.

Behind every image is gentle encouragement, laughter, trust, and someone helping you feel seen.

The most beautiful photographs are never just about posing, they are about connection, safety, and the space to fully be yourself.

Supportive direction. Real connection.
