From Vancouver Island to Paris 💌
Island views to share, with my favorite destination Paris ♡
Honored that my little oceanic watercolor is hanging in the “Correspondances” exhibition with .curators — a wall of stories from around the world.
It started in my plain airboat studio at sunset and finished in studio, mailed from our little post office, and now lives eternally in Paris.

This is four year old me, fully embodied, not giving any sh*ts about thigh gaps or if my stomach was flat enough.
I had zero concern with the size of my chin, my forehead, my feet.
My wee self just loved to unapologetically move. I lovvvvved having my photo taken because you know, four year old confidence.

All I knew was that my body loved to move and dance. Every second of my waking day. I did ballet, folk, tap, modern, jazz. I did it all.

And insidiously, slowly, I stopped loving dancing.
I stopped loving my body.
I stopped loving myself.

How?
Every day, the innocuous comments made by adults, classmates, friends- met my ears.
Each comment, every suggestion to watch what i put in my mouth, each giggle at my expense, was like a small paper cut. Unassuming and small but as the paper cuts accumulated, I was shredded into a million pieces.

I am still not whole, I am still in pieces, but mending.
This is why I paint bodies- all the bodies. Each painting I create brings me back closer to wholeness. I document all the bodies to bring me one step closer to my courageous four year old self, before the world told her she was too much.

Take up space my friends. Your too-muchness is always welcome with me.
