Taking a walk on the Wild Side!

Both of us love being out in nature, whether it be by the edge of the ocean, or high up the mountain watching the sun dip down below the trees.

We did a little day trip adventure with my youngest and got to show her the tide pools down at Botanical beach, watch the sunset over the ocean, and explore some of the older places that have just been left to time, filled with some of the most amazing artwork graffiti can spray lol. For reals, though some of the artists are truly amazing!

Some of my most favorite things are old abandoned places, the ones just filled to the brim with bold, colorful graffiti. Ive always loved exploring and being able to go somewhere with a rich history, good or bad has always fascinated me.

Today my teenager followed along with me, and rather than being your typical sulking teen about "spending time with mom" instead of being on his computer gaming with friends, he was absolutely enthralled and excited to be out exploring places like these with me. Even made a new friend at one of our stops!

Did a little wander around the neighborhood and found some Lilies of the Valley peeking out of a big old stone wall. Soon the flowers will start to die off with the changing of the season and then all the fall colours will begin to pop up. Love me the fall changes and all the fun that comes with it!

Sunsets at the end of summer hit a little differently than other times of the year. You get the fresh air, and cooler nights when you just sit, relax, reflect, and unwind.

There's something about weddings by the ocean...…

The salty breeze, the sound of the waves hitting the shore rocks, and the baitred breath of the nervous groom waiting for the love of his life to come into view, and say “I Do”

I was thrilled to shoot for this amazing couple at a place very near and dear to them. Neck Point Park, in Nanaimo. They met and dated here. They got engaged within a stone throw of here and a couple weeks ago, said their “I do’s” here. It was perfect!

I’m Incredibly honored to have been able to shoot their specials day with friends and family, I even ran into some long time friends I haven’t seen in years who turned out to be mutual friends.

I had the pleasure of working with an amazing and powerful woman named “S” and she wanted to have something from our amazing forests here to take home with her to northern BC, so we found a stunning river spot for an outdoor bo***ir shoot. Wasn’t too hot out on the day of our shoot, and had some great laughs along the way :)

Outdoor shoots can be so much more fun in the wild elements of our forests here, you just have to roll with them and you get to capture some of the most amazing scenery at the same time as really empowering your client and bringing out the sass within.

I love working with nature and people and when I get to combine them, it just makes my whole day!

Spent some time this past Sunday with an amazing family for some photos at one of our popular beach parks in Nanaimo. It was perfect, the sun even came out between the clouds for us, and the kids all seemed to really have fun in between me chatting with everyone and taking some cute family photos.

These two brothers are super cute!

Incredibly kind and ever-inquisitive to our tide pools, I loved being able to show them some pictures I had taken a few days before seeing them of some Starfish I came across on a different beach and just watching their faces light up seeing all that our tide pools can share and teach them.

I recently have been walking around my local marshes and bird sanctuaries trying to see all the birds coming back out of the tress in the nicer weather and found my first Stellers Jay of the year! these guys are super elusive for me, and they are one of my favorites to try and find. I was so excited to find this guy last night and it sat so well for me for a minute and then flew off into the cedar trees and was gone.

I only ever see a few of these every year and every year I always try to see more, but I’m happy to see all the birds thriving in the different parks we have here in Nanaimo. Buttertubs Marsh is amazing to wander through if you love birdwatching, or want a really lovely easy, and kid-friendly stroll through a forested marsh, and if you are lucky you’ll even spot a Beaver family or the local turtles out sunning themselves!

I have a busy week ahead of me this week, so I’m glad I got a chance to get out to see the birds, I have a family shoot coming up at the beach and a Bo***ir session as well, so I’m excited to work on these projects and make some amazing memories!
