Tiny Birds, Huge Personalities 💚

These small aerial acrobats never fail to amaze me- especially when you learn what they can do

🌺 Hummingbirds are the only birds that can sustain backwards flight
💨 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds wings beat about 75 times per second in direct flight and more than 200 times when diving
🌏 They remember food sources and location of feeders and will often return to the same feeder every year

Patience paid off with this unforgettable encounter at Wye Marsh 📸

A remarkable moment in the wild. This mink dragged a large snake through the marsh, paused to snack on its hard-earned catch, and then swam off into the creek with its prey. Moments like these are why I always have my camera ready. 🐍
