Frames from round 7 of the Cyclocross Quebec Cup in Laval.

While the rest of the day I shot all video and photos in a more natural Reala Ace film sim for accurate colours, I gave my Superia X-TRA 400 sim a try as I’m in love what it does for autumn foliage as well as a vintage “sports in film look”

Had a blast covering the last round of Mercredis de Terrebonne last evening.

Unlike road cycling events, the vibe here is so relaxed. Spectators are hanging around various parts of the track ringing cow bells and drinking beers, it’s just a time.

I arrived 5 minutes late as this event is completely on the other side of the map for me but next season I’ll mark it on my calendar to try and leave work earlier to cover more of it start to finish.

Covering an event like this making me extremely excited for cyclocross season. Yeah! Bring on the cold weather, rain and mud!

As mentioned in previous posts, I’m a big kid at heart. Airshows, construction equipment, police and fire trucks are some of the things that stop me in my tracks before continuing on with me day.

So when I saw that the had two BMW R 1250 RT-P’s leading the peloton at last week’s I absolutely had to get images of them.

I also instantly texted my friend and asked her if she saw the officers as she’s probably a bigger fan of the police force than I am. 🚨👮

The sweet taste of victory 🍾🏆

Had an absolute fantastic time covering the last round of this year. I’m so pleased with myself from bringing my flash this time as last round it was definitely too dark for standard images.

I was also absolutely loving the champagne spraying as I had a feeling it might happen and when the other photographers took a step back, I held my ground as I wanted to be in the action. I don’t have a single doubt in my mind about the weather sealing of my gear and even got a face full of spray which was slightly refreshing 😜.

After 10 weeks, it all came down to the wire.

What an absolutely amazing night of racing. The crowd was electric, the racing was fast and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect.

I absolutely loved covering this season and I have to give a massive thank you to Tania for inviting me for one of the rounds as a featured photographer with an all access wristband. Already looking forward to next season.

Now my focus turns to cyclocross as the weather is getting cooler and more rain is in the forecast.

Thank you Cloremice for letting me take your portrait. It was a pleasure getting to know you.

On Saturday I really wanted to take some portraits of the players to add some variety into my work. After talking it over with my new friend , I mustered up the courage to go ask. Asking for a portrait is tough for me, as well as a bunch of you who are reading this. But one thing I remembered from a fellow street photographer is, go up to that person, introduce yourself, explain your interest, intention and in 99% cases, people would be more than happy to have their image professionally taken.

Then on Sunday when I saw Cloremice again as she was umpiring for another team, she explained how much she loved them and how she’s never been asked for her photo before. It made her feel quite special. When I heard that I instantly knew my job was done. I absolutely love it when my subjects/clients feel moved.
