Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York It is with great sadness that we share the difficult news that our dearest faculty member, Bobby Clennell passed away on Saturday. We learned about this from her son Jake on Sunday while at the IYNAUS Convention 2026 in Philadelphia:
“ I am heartbroken to share the news that my mother, Bobby, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon at her home in England, surrounded by my father, Lyndsey, and my brother, Miles.
Iyengar Yoga was her life‘s devotion. She deeply loved this community and the beautiful life she built through her practice and teaching. Guruji’s teachings truly transformed her life, creating a positive ripple effect that radiated through our family and touched countless others. She continued her practice peacefully into her final days, a gift for which I am eternally grateful.
With Love, Jake Clennell”
We will miss her deeply and remember her always 🙏
From me: Dear Jake My Heartfelt Empathy and Deepest Condolences to your family for Bobby’s immense loss 🙏
I am blessed to have taken many classes with Bobby and her yoga teaching and patience was one of the highest extraordinary levels of quality of pure wisdom and love. Many many years ago When I first walked into her Friday night restorative classes and she immediately began helping me with my deeply injured car accident dancer body and immediately I could feel some relief and she and my NYC teachers helped me enormously. Then recently when I moved to Vancouver and we all had to learn online yoga classes because of COVID , she remembered me right away and helped me with alternative modification poses. I carry her teaching always. I am saddened and shocked with Bobby’s loss 🙏
