Okay, let me clear something up because I know what some of you might be thinking. 😂

You see me posting my book, ME INC.: When the Brand Is You, and because you've known me as a photographer, image consultant, designer, content creator…

you might think:

“Oh, Norah wrote a book about personal branding.”

Not quite. 😉

You thought I was talking about your brand.
I was talking about your value.

This book is about all the things we collect over the years:

Our skills.
Our experiences.
Our knowledge.
Our creativity.
Our perspective.
The problems we've learned to solve.

We often see them as separate chapters.

I started seeing mine as assets.

And that changed the way I looked at myself, my work and what I could create next.

That's what ME INC. is really about.

Not becoming somebody else.

Recognizing what you've already built—and learning how to make it work for you.

And now that I have an actual copy sitting in my hands…

yeah, I'm still a little bit on a cloud. 😂❤️

For a long time, I struggled with the question:

“So… what do you do?”

Photographer.
Graphic designer.
Branding consultant.
Image consultant.
Author.
Content creator.
Entrepreneur.

All true.

And somehow, none of those answers ever felt like the whole story.

Because the older I get, the more I realize that a career isn't always a straight line.

Sometimes it's a collection.

Years of work.
Skills you picked up along the way.
Problems you've learned to solve.
People you've helped.
Things you've survived.
Ideas you've tested.
Knowledge you've accumulated.

And eventually, you look at all of it and realize:

Wait… I've been building something this whole time.

Not necessarily a single profession.

An asset base.

That's one of the ideas at the heart of my new book, ME INC.: When the Brand Is You.

I wrote it because I believe many of us have been taught to look outside ourselves for the next credential, course, job title or business idea…

when we should sometimes stop and take inventory of what we already have.

My own journey has taught me that the different chapters aren't necessarily disconnected.

Photography taught me to see.

Design taught me to communicate.

Branding taught me to connect the two.

Entrepreneurship taught me to create value.

Life taught me that experience has value too.

And now I'm bringing all of those pieces together in a new chapter.

So, if you're seeing me show up a little differently here, that's why.

I'm not reinventing myself.

I'm finally introducing the whole company.

Welcome to ME INC.

You are not starting from zero.

You're starting from decades of experience, knowledge, skills, relationships, creativity, resilience, and hard-earned wisdom.

ME INC. helps you see your life as an asset portfolio—and start thinking like the CEO of the company you've been building all along.

I wrote a book about knowing your value. Then my own book made me raise my prices.

Recently, a potential client contacted me about taking some photos for her graduation.

Her question was basically:

“How many photos do I get for this price?”

And I caught myself thinking:

Oh. That’s the old model.

The old me would have immediately started calculating.

One hour = X photos.
X photos = $X.
Maybe throw in a few extras because, you know… customer service.
And somehow, by the end of it, I’m giving away half my business and calling it a package. 😂

But this time I stopped.

Because I’m not pricing the deliverable anymore.

I’m pricing the asset behind the deliverable.

A photograph isn't created when I press the shutter.

There’s the experience I’ve accumulated over the years.
The creative eye.
The planning.
The location discussion.
The direction during the shoot.
The time spent travelling.
The selection of images afterward.
The gallery preparation.
The editing.
The retouching.
The packaging.
The delivery.

Funny how much work happens after the camera stops clicking.

And then it hit me.

I was applying the principles from my own book.

Asset Inventory.

Know what you have.

Recognize what actually creates value.

And, perhaps most importantly:

Stop giving away pieces of your business just because they don't come in a box.

This isn't only about photography.

It's about the skills, knowledge, experience, ideas, relationships, systems, intellectual property and creative work we've accumulated over the years — and then casually underprice because we're so used to thinking of our value as a single finished thing.

Apparently, it took me years of entrepreneurship...

and writing Chapter 5 of ME INC.
..to finally become my own case study.

The irony is not lost on me.

I literally wrote the chapter.

Then my business had to send me a memo:

“Ma’am. Did you read your own book?”

Message received. 😂
