When I think about the holiday season, I think about moments growing up where my entire family used to spend Christmas Eve at my Lola’s place. I think about listening to Frank Sinatra’s Christmas album, playing chess with my Lolo, cards and bingo with my aunts and uncles, and eating the night away as us kids patiently (not really) waited till midnight to open our gifts.

My favourite gift was the year we received Street Fighter II on our Super Nintendo! I don’t think we slept at all that night! Looking back, what moment to you recall when thinking about the holiday? What was your favourite gift that you received as a kid?

Today’s throwback is a photo I took just over a year ago while roaming the streets with . A point where I really started thinking about how I could share meaningful content. Shifting from a perspective of “how did you get this shot?” to “what’s the meaning of this shot?”.

This shot to me was a separation from the illusion and deception side of the art, to something more genuine, human interaction/connection... with someone I’d never met before.

I find a person’s sense of style quite intriguing and a fun way to express themselves, so naturally when I noticed his look, I definitely wanted to know the story behind his fashion sense.

I later found out he was a Montrealer now living in Japan, but just visiting family over the holidays. I would have loved to share more about my interaction with him, but I sadly lost my notes on him when I swapped phones last year 🤦‍♂️.

I’ve walked the aisle countless times as a photographer, but tomorrow I’ll stand at the head of it, waiting for what the universe has been preparing me for, to receive as my partner in life. The question becomes, will you find me holding a camera at the top of the aisle?

Although the primary focus of photography is creating beautiful imagery, over the last year or so, I’ve been trying to harness it’s ability to connect with others and create meaningful conversations.

I’m still not exactly sure where this will lead me, but my mind and my soul seem to be attuned to this path. Learning a lot about myself in the process and have been rewarded by amazing energy from those I’ve met along the way.
