“STILL LIFE”
Still life photography refers to photos taken of inanimate objects as the focus of interest. During this time, it seems like everything and everyone is quite simply STUCK.
Decided to post a few photos from my camera roll from the last week or two. The best part of “photography” is the explosion of memories that come from looking back at photos that were taken. These memories are definitely worth experiencing again. 🙂

We'll be guiding you through a "cupping," where you'll be able to taste a variety of beans from different regions. Special thanks to our sponsors, Escape Coffee.

You'll learn about the characteristics of each bean, and how to recognize them when trying out coffee from your favourite café.

The event is open to all, and requires no prior experience.

See you there!

ROAST — Last night, we had an interesting conversation on what builds a person’s CHARACTER. How is it that people react differently during certain situations? How does one person see it fitting to make one decision over an other? What drives us to “do the right thing?”

Just like how coffee is roasted, one “batch” can contain beans that have subtle nuances. The practice of “cupping” (tasting) allows the roaster to assure the highest quality within the beans that have just been processed. Although they’ve all endured the same amount of heat over a certain amount of time, how is it possible that there can be such differences between each seed?

I believe that, although they each go through the same process, their true characteristics and aromas are discovered due to HOW they’ve dealt with experiences prior (sunlight, humidity, placement on the plant, growth time, etc).

In the end, the common goal is to come together and lead with each of their STRENGTHS, and create the best cup of coffee possible.

CORTADO — I recently listened to a podcast from two of my favorite “YouTube people,” on ’s The Ground Up Show. Many topics they discussed resonated with me, but one quote in particular definitely stood out: “What do I wish someone would’ve shared with me, so my journey could’ve been a lot easier?”

Through my 10 years as an educator, I’ve always struggled explaining my thoughts when someone asks “why did you choose to be a teacher?” I really believe in finding your AUTHENTICITY, which (as cliché as it sounds) is a lot easier said than done. It’s really through EXPERIENCE, and how we share them with others, that will allow us to find our true interests and passions.

I believe this is why I’ve been so drawn into the “coffee community” these past few years, as the people I have met have such passion in every aspect of “coffee”; from how it’s consumed, all the way back to its origins on how it’s grown. 🌱

Also, it just tastes really good. ☕️

I’ve gotten quite a few inquiries on what a “cupping” is exactly. It’s basically a way to stimulate all your senses (lots of slurping to be heard 👂), to enjoy the best kind of coffee that suits YOUR tastes. No matter how much (or how little) you know about coffee, the “community” surrounding it is so welcoming, and willing to share knowledge and experiences. Looking forward to more events like these. 👌🏽 @ September Surf Cafe

One photo from the Public Cupping on Monday. Thank you for allowing us to develop our senses, and increase our knowledge in coffee. Definitely looking forward to upcoming events, and will be sharing more photos tomorrow!
Shoutout to and for hosting us, and all the roasters for their wonderful coffee.
