Springtime at the Montreal Botanical Garden.
I did a little cosplay of the character Xue Baochai from the Chinese TV show A Dream of Red Mansions (think of it as a tragic version of Downton Abbey, but with more characters and more intricate plots, and yes there is a book, and the book is epic).

My cosplay as the character Juxian, originally played by actress Gong Li, from the 1993 Chinese movie Farewell My Concubine.

Kudos to for bringing the uncut restored 4K version of this beautiful film to the big screen in Montreal this year.

A cosplay photoshoot of Wu Yong from the Chinese TV series Water Margin (1998), this time, the entire original school teacher look from the show, facial hair included.

I take both Halloween and my obsession with this (now ancient) TV show VERY seriously, and the goal is to complete cosplays of the character’s four signature styles by Halloween (if my bandwidth permits), two reimagined female versions, two completely show-accurate versions. Two done (this one and the previous post), two more to go.
🏞️
I think my first attempt at fake facial hair and trying to make myself look like a man in his mid-40s was pretty successful 😂

I’ve been OBSESSED with this show for the past 6 months, adapted based on the novel by Shi Nai’an. The story is set in the Northern Song dynasty in ancient China, and tells of how a group of 108 outlaws gathers at Mount Liang (or Liangshan Marsh) to rebel against the government.
🏞️
This look is based on Wu Yong’s costume from the episode where a group of seven robbed the grand convoy of birthday gifts sent for the corrupt imperial tutor. The logistics of the hijacking was devised by Wu Yong, who disguised the seven as jujube date merchants.
