From my summer exploration project called
"A FOREIGN BODY"

MFA Concordia — Year 1

Exploring and questioning what a portrait is made of, both externally and internally.
Medical and corporeal imagery represents us through high-contrast black-and-white images and textures. We learn to read our interiority through these images. Their interpretation and reading become, in some way, part of our identity — affecting, changing, or modifying our external portrait, even when we never fully see or understand the internal images themselves.
In some way, abstraction becomes reality.

Can medical, bureaucratic, or material traces become forms of portraiture?

An affective exploration of what can constitute or shape a portrait: photographs, texts, medical imagery, layered superpositions, transparencies, images that disappear or become lost within liquids.

"A FOREIGN BODY"

MFA Concordia — Year 1

Exploring and questioning what a portrait is made of, both externally and internally.
