As fashion photographers, we’re trained to chase technical excellence: perfect lighting, perfect focus, perfect ex*****on 📸
But lately, I’ve been thinking about how the work that stays with me most isn’t always the most technically perfect.
The photographers who inspire me are storytellers. They create images that make people feel something beyond the clothes or products being shown. They build worlds, evoke emotion, and communicate identity.
Of course, technical skill matters. Client work often requires precision, and there will always be projects where the goal is simply to create clean, accurate imagery.
But as a consumer, what draws me in isn’t usually the sharpest image—it’s the feeling behind it. It’s the universe a brand creates and the way it makes people see themselves within that story.
That’s why I always encourage emerging photographers to lean into what makes their perspective unique 👏
For me, that’s beauty, inclusivity, and self-expression. Creating imagery that celebrates identity rather than conceals it.
Technical excellence is important, but human connection creates the most impact 🫂
