Andean cloud forest near Mindo, Ecuador

The Andean cloud forest that surrounds the city of Quito, Ecuador (as well as parts of Peru), is teeming with colorful species of birds that seem unbothered by the presence of humans. The cloud forest is, therefore, a boon for bird photographers and well worth an extended visit. The only caveat is that to get the shutter speed needed to freeze motion, the photographer should be prepared to shoot at very high ISOs...
