Thanks to Dylan Cornwall for the updates and Myles Rose for letting me wander his fields I was able to get a few good photos of the Crested Caracara at North Lake this morning. ( June 11, 2026 )
The first 4 photos are from North Lake and the fifth photo an overhead view was taken at Fairfield later in the morning.

I was thrilled to observe and photograph this BAR-TAILED GODWIT at Savage Harbour last evening ( from 630 to 730 June 4, 2026 ).
Some ID tips on this Male in Breeding plumage from Cornell:
A large shorebird with a long, slightly upturned bill. Breeding male has rich rufous underparts and dark brown upper parts. Bill is mostly black during breeding season.
A lifer for me and the first record for PEI. Thanks to the tip from Dwaine Oakley on Birding on PEI ...he observed it in this area on May 30 along with Ray Cooke and Dan McAskill!
The Bar-tailed Godwit is a champion flyer. In 2007 a female bar-tailed godwit was recorded flying non-stop from Alaska to New Zealand. The flight lasted 7 days and covered a distance of 7,145 miles!
Have a look at the range map attached. Crazy that this bird could be on PEI.

I like this one of an Eastern Kingbird at Mt. Stewart on May 31, 2026!

Cool Fact from Cornell

" During the summer the Eastern Kingbird eats mostly flying insects and maintains a breeding territory that it defends vigorously against all other kingbirds. In the winter along the Amazon, however, it has a completely different lifestyle: it travels in flocks and eats fruit."

Eastern Phoebe close to the bridge which crosses the Valleyfield river. May 24, 2026.
This flycatcher is common in woodlands and farmlands; it often nests under bridges!
