Please join us at the Photo Moncton Wall of Fame Gallery on September 6th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Blue Cross Center to meet photographer Nicolas Blouin at the opening of his new photographic effort, “FIGURES”.
Through his observation, Nicolas captured moments of heightened intimacy where he tends to entice the viewer yet suggest a sense of solitude.
Nicolas certainly pushes the limits of exposure to express the real and the fictional blurring into a fractured narrative that is disorienting and unforgettable.
The curious eye of the photographer moved effortlessly and playfully between documentary, street photography and art.

Le curieux œil du photographe s'est déplacé sans effort et de manière ludique entre documentaire, photographie de rue et art.

Natural settings and urban areas inspires much of my image making, where I attempt to explore the interaction between light and shadow performing in graceful harmony. This journey lead me to create the series “Watercolour in the rain”, that I will exhibit this October.
What lies beyond the labeled appearance of things entices me, I try to see what else is there, the unexpected pursuit that fills me with inspiration where I can state my visual views.
Although there are many ways to produce impressionistic images, I favour in-camera multiple exposures best as it augments the element of chance and cultivates my response to tell my story, consequently creating an image that is true to my emotion of the moment and reducing the image to the essential instant where everything comes together.
This photograph was created when diverse objects are existing on opposing surfaces and distinct from each other. That is what draws me to the idea of creating exposures for the process of image-making on site to make them look not just real, but mine...

To find solitude in a city that is in constant motion and where it never seems to slow down for anybody; Toronto boldly links the line between order and chaos.
With a populace of about three million, one could think that crowds are a relentless and persistent entity in the largest city in Canada. While it is something that every resident encounter daily, it is not impossible to be completely alone.

When I am in big cities, I am attracted to capturing people lost in their solitude in very busy public places. My assignment, “Solitude within the masses”.

All photos made with the very compact Lumix SZ-10 point and shoot camera.
