when we arrived in canada four years ago, i honestly thought (or maybe just desperately hoped) it would be for 2 or 3 years max, and then we’d go back home.
but now... i don’t even know where home is anymore.
my parents‘ house is still there, exactly where it always was. it’s the place you’ll always long to return to, where you’re always welcomed with the warmest hugs and your favorite comfort food. but where is our home now?
they say when things get tough, you just want to drop everything and move somewhere new. honestly, i never wanted that. but back then, we had to make that choice for different reasons. and as hard as it is to admit... it was the right decision.
celebrating every single holiday over facetime is incredibly heartbreaking, it really is. but at the same time, i’m so grateful our generation at least has this technology to stay connected.
let’s just cherish what we have right here, right now. because if the w*r taught me anything, it’s that nobody knows what tomorrow looks like, and we have to value every single moment. 🤍

to everyone who is far from home right now — i feel you. how do you handle this feeling? 🫂👇

June 2022 was incredibly difficult for us. We found ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. But this amazing little person handled it all. By supporting each other, we managed to get through it. And now, four years later, Ameliia is telling her classmates about her homeland in English, while adding some French text live in class. I am so incredibly proud of you, my sweet girl!

Ameliia gave me permission to post this video because she is proud of what we created together. And I believe she will keep shining just like this in the future.

I hope you will find it interesting to watch and listen.

I wish everyone to have this kind of perseverance and passion for learning!

Just one more week, and you’ll finish grade 2! I can’t believe my daughter is so grown up already ❤️

honestly, when it came to punching holes in thick paper without the right tools... it was a whole comedic show 💀
but my husband came to the rescue with his own solution: a thick wooden board, a screwdriver, and a hammer 😆 (or, you know, you could just own a hole puncher like a normal person). does anyone have any other chaotic DIY hacks for this?

another beautiful day added to our memory bank 🤍 we were collecting wild flowers for our paper cards, but when it came to the gorgeous ones planted by people, we just admired them along the way (without picking them, of course!). my 7-year-old daughter quickly caught on and honestly had even more fun than i did! now our makeshift vase is sitting on our table, and all the flowers are still alive and looking so pretty. 🌸✨

i’d love to hear your ideas — what are your favorite ways to spend a fun weekend on a budget? drop them below! 👇

The last time I talked to my grandma, she asked me, “So… don’t you want to come back home already?”.

And how do you even explain that it’s not really something you can simply stop wanting.

We made this decision very consciously — for our daughter’s future.
It was never my dream. It was never something I wanted.

I was never excited about English.
I never dreamed about moving abroad.

But I was always afraid of w*r.

I still remember how much I hated reading books or history about w*rs. I could never understand how people actually lived through times like that. I never understood why people keep doing this to each other.

W*r was always one of my biggest fears.

And another one was living far away from my parents.

I never wanted to be this far from them. We grew up with different traditions — where holidays are spent with family, where you can stop by for dinner without an invitation, where you can just come over simply because you felt like it.

Living this far away is hard.

And honestly, I don’t think that part will ever feel easy for me.

But my daughter’s safety and future matter more than my childhood fears.

And somehow I’ve learned how to enjoy life here while still living with those fears.

Four years!!!!

On one side it feels like one day.
On the other — it feels like forever.

And thank gosh for FaceTime 🤍

It feels so much easier when you have your little daily tradition and get to see the people you love every day 🤍
