Yesterday’s storm chase along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border wasn’t a low-precipitation supercell which I prefer to photograph. A lot of the storms were rain-wrapped, which definitely made for a more difficult chase.

But that’s storm chasing though, you never what you’re going to get, but you are happy to have the opportunity! ⛈️

A tornado was confirmed near Elkhorn not long after I took some of these photos, and I’ll admit I had opportunities to get closer. I’m realizing that chasing alone makes me a little nervous when things get serious. 😘I believe it is time to go on a paid tornado chase and experience my first one with some experienced chasers around me. I think that might do wonders for my confidence!

I probably should have edited these in the morning… but I have a family session that needs my attention tomorrow, so I powered through! 😂

I stayed up to watch the lunar eclipse, and I’m so glad I did. 🌕🌑

Here are a few moments from 11:12 p.m., 12:00 a.m., 12:10 a.m., 12:30 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. Watching the moon change throughout the night was pretty incredible. ✨

Now… I really should go to bed. 😴📸

I was out Monday attempting another storm chase, and this one took me on a bit of a journey! 🌩️

Since I was near Winnipeg, I started with supper and a visit with my son before heading toward Poplar Point. Unfortunately, that storm started weakening as I made my way there. Thankfully, I spotted another storm developing north of Elie and changed course.

I’d recently purchased a new lightning trigger, so I was pretty excited to finally put it to the test! ⚡️ I was also fascinated watching farmers continue working their fields with the storm rolling in around them. 🌾

Of course, I was easily distracted by the sunset and beautiful prairie scenery too. 😂🌅

Her first glimpse of the Northern Lights. 💚✨

My daughter-in-law had never witnessed the Northern Lights before. Coming from Ecuador and now living in downtown Toronto, she hasn’t had many opportunities to experience a truly dark Manitoba sky.

So when the clouds started getting in the way, we decided to drive out and give it a shot. The aurora wasn’t brilliant last night, but there was a beautiful green arc that we could actually see with our eyes—and that was enough. 💚

And then there was the Milky Way… 🌌

I think it may have quietly stolen the show.

It wasn’t the strongest aurora display, but sometimes you don’t need a spectacular show to make a memory. Just a dark sky, a little green glow, billions of stars, and someone seeing it all for the first time. ❤️

A pretty special Manitoba night. ✨
