I’m sadder
Than I have ever been
Never be the same again
Never felt this kind of sting
That towers over everything

The never walks, the never calls
That linger down these empty halls
The silent nights can’t calm the din
That hovers over everything

I can’t bring myself to say so long
Every path can’t lead for long
Can’t catch time in a silly wish
But if I could, I know my wish

Another walk, can’t be too fast
Can’t watch it all go rushing past
Another run, another path
Just one more walk
It’s all I’d ask.

Wildfires don't recognize borders. And for more than 40 years, neither has the friendship between the U.S. and Canada.

Since 1982, our two countries have operated under the Canada/U.S. Reciprocal Forest Fire Fighting Arrangement. When one country needs help, the other answers.

That means crews, aircraft, and equipment moving both ways. Our Canadian teams have helped in California, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. American firefighters have deployed to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario.

In 2023, both countries signed a new MOU to strengthen that cooperation even further. Same mission as day one: protect lives, communities, and forests.

Neighbours helping neighbors.

The Yellow Wood

By an island lake
Lies a yellow wood
Where fairies slept
And giants stood
Where bluebirds sing
And wildflowers seed
And the winding paths
Go through the trees
To finally sit
Where they once stood
By the ancient rocks
In the yellow wood

There’s a sunlit sky
And a cool breeze plays
And it lights the trees
And the ripples sway
This hidden street
Where the dragonflies dance
And the forest hums
In a timeless trance
Has stood with time
Where time stands still
Those yellow woods
Upon the hill*
