Part of the package I provide clients is a photoshoot prep guide. Even for seasoned horse people, we’re human and it’s easy to forget the simple things. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 “𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭 - 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲” 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁.

1. These photos are meant to feature you, so choose the outfit that suits your personality and style. Add in the flourishes with accessories but think movement and comfort. If you’re constantly pulling at your outfit, you won’t be relaxed in front of the camera.

2. Prep your outfit the day before so you know everything’s good to go and won’t need last minute fixes.

3. If you’d like help putting together outfits, I’m happy to provide guidance. Tip: Avoid lots of patterns, busy patterns, and any large logos.

4. Keep your hair and makeup true to your style, unless we’re shooting a stylized session.

Pro tip: Shop your closet, your sibling’s closet, or your friends’ closets for anything that may be a one-off. Cowboy hat in your vibe but not your budget? Borrow 😉

Nyla + Chloe 💞

How to choose a handful of photos to post from the 279 I considered worth editing (that is not hyperbole)? But that’s the price I pay for photographing the love between Nyla and Chloe, heavily sprinkled with the love I have for my kiddo (who’s not such a kiddo anymore) and her (our) beautiful Chloe.

I am firmly in the where-have-all-the-years-gone era of life, while trying very hard to absorb and make the most of every single second.

Today’s a perfect day to dive into edits and ignore the gloom outdoors. Feeling all kinds of drama from this shoot where Lexi and I set out to play.

𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽 - 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲

Part of the package I provide clients is a photoshoot prep guide. Even for seasoned horse people, we’re human and it’s easy to forget the simple things.

1. Please bathe and groom your horse on shoot day. Trust. You’ll love the final results more.

2. Body clip + pull the mane (if that’s the look) 1-2 weeks ahead of our session.

3. Exercise your horse ahead of time if they have energy to spare.

4. Serve them a meal or let them have access to forage until the session starts.

5. Clean your tack. A nicely fitted leather halter and lead rope can work, but a bridle is classic and provides a bit more control.

Pro tip: Get your horse used to any new locations we’ll shoot in ahead of our session.

PS. Now’s the time to pull out your fake tail. Don’t just save it for the ring!
