“We should actually take some pictures while we’re out tonight!”

My husband and I are TERRIBLE for remembering to take photos together. Which is slightly ironic considering what I do for a living. 😂

So after date night, on our way home, I was pretty proud of us for actually remembering to grab a few.

And well…

The results speak for themselves. 😆

Blurry. Awkward. Terrible angles. Questionable lighting.

But you know what? I’ll probably keep them anyway because they’re still us, out together, in this season of life. And sometimes the imperfect photos end up being the ones that make you laugh the most.

Also, if you ever needed proof that photographers will never be out of work… here it is. 😂

If YOU want nice photos, I can actually do that for you.
For myself? Apparently not.

I feel like I’m entering a bit of a new era with family photography... ❤️

I want family sessions to be less about “everyone look at me and smile!” and more about documenting what your family actually looks like right now.

The things you do together.

The places that mean something to you.

The routines your kids will someday grow out of.

Maybe it’s feeding chickens with Grandpa. Maybe it’s Saturday morning pancakes, riding bikes, working on the farm, camping, baking with Grandma, fishing, or spending an evening at the family cabin.

Because someday, the photo of everyone smiling at the camera will be beautiful...

But the photo of your little boy’s hand resting on Grandpa’s while they feed the chickens together? That one is going to wreck you. 🥹

And this is actually why I’m not offering traditional Fall Mini Sessions this year.

Instead of squeezing families into the same location, same setup and same short time slot, I want to create space for sessions that are actually about your family.

Your people. Your places. Your memories.

Family photos with a purpose... to remember these moments when they’re grown and gone. ❤️

And if you’re thinking, “I LOVE this, but I have absolutely no idea what we would do...”

Don’t worry. I have a list of 100 family session ideas we can pull inspiration from. 😂

You bring me your people. Tell me a little about what makes your family your family... and we’ll build the session around that.

This was my first time meeting Jennifer, Dillan + their sweet kiddos and this session was SO much fun.

This is exactly why I love family sessions that have a little bit of life built into them.

We got the classic everyone-looking-at-the-camera photos, of course... but we also let the kids run, play, snuggle, blow bubbles, cruise around in their little vehicles and basically just be themselves. 😂

And those are always the images I end up loving the most.

The little hands. The sibling snuggles. Mom and Dad getting a moment together while the kids are doing laps around them. The things their kids are obsessed with at this exact age.
Because someday the little pink Jeep and red side-by-side won't be sitting in the yard anymore. The kids won't be this little. And these very ordinary pieces of their life right now are going to feel pretty extraordinary. 🤍

Jennifer + Dillan, it was such a pleasure finally meeting you guys and getting to document this season of your family. Your crew was an absolute blast!

I've been a photographer since 2012... but this offering feels especially close to home.

I'm married to a fourth generation farmer, and over the years I've realized just how much history lives in the everyday moments on a farmer ranch.

The old truck that still gets used.
Grandpa showing the grandkids how it's done.
Supper's brought out to the field.
The inside of a tractor cab during Harvest.
Moving cattle. Checking fences. Dirty boots by the door.
The barn that has stood there longer than anyone can remember.

When you're living it, these things can feel so ordinary.

But one day...they won't be.

And so much of this history gets lost because everyone is busy doing the work required to keep the farm or Ranch going. We tell the stories, but eventually details disappear, buildings change, equipment gets replaced, and generations of people who come after us never actually get to see what came before them.

That is why I'm introducing Legacy sessions.

These are storytelling photography sessions created specifically for Farm and Ranch families who want to preserve what life looks like right now .

This isn't about dressing everyone up and standing in a field smiling at my camera.

We might intentionally choose a day when the grandkids are helping, cattle are being moved, Harvest is underway, or supper is being brought to the field.. but then you just have to do what you normally do.

I'll follow along.

I'll climb into the equipment, get down into the dirt, wander through the pasture and probably step in some cow milk along the way! My job is simply to observe and document the people, relationships, work, details and traditions that make your story yours.

Because today's ordinary becomes tomorrow's Legacy

I'm currently taking bookings for spring 2027, as well as a limited number of sessions for family still wrapping up Harvest this fall.

It’s official… I have another sister-in-law! 🤍

This past weekend, we celebrated Brittanie + Maverick as they tied the knot in the beautiful Cypress Hills.

This one was extra special for me to photograph. Maverick is Logyn’s brother, and Cypress Hills holds SO many memories for their family. Getting to watch these two commit their lives to each other in a place already filled with so much family history felt pretty darn special.

And then… off to Maple Creek to PARTY.

A live band, a packed dance floor, family and friends, and the kind of celebration that felt exactly like them.

Brittanie, welcome officially to the family… although let’s be real, you’ve been part of it for a while now.

Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Jacksteit! 🥂

So grateful I got to experience this day as both family AND photographer.

Being a teacher has its perks… like mid-week weddings (and discounts 😆).

And this one? What a beautiful day to celebrate.

The French and the British united 🇫🇷🇬🇧...

and brought their families together from all corners to witness two people choose each other and celebrate the love they’ve found in one another.

The Pagé wedding was filled with the kind of moments that make you remember what weddings are really about: family, laughter, happy tears, and a whole lot of love.

Congratulations, you two! 🤍

Summer loving....

There’s just something about summer that makes everything feel a little more magical.

Golden hour that lasts forever.
Sun-soaked grass.
A blanket thrown down in a field.
A bottle of w**e.
Wildflowers picked just because they’re pretty.
And someone you really, really like sitting beside you.

That was the vibe for Ridge + Maddie’s session... and honestly, I’m here for it.

No elaborate plans. No perfectly curated setting. Just the two of them soaking up a summer evening together, laughing, cuddling, and enjoying the kind of moments you wish you could bottle up and keep forever.

Because sometimes the best photos aren’t about posing.

They’re about remembering exactly how it felt.

When Savannah's grad session rolled around, the rain was coming down, and if I'm honest, we were all wondering how this was going to work. 🌧️😅

We had been hoping for lush greenery and beautiful outdoor locations, but Mother Nature had other plans.
And wow... am I ever glad she did.

What felt like a setback turned into the biggest blessing. The soft light, the moody skies, the dreamy atmosphere... everything came together in a way we couldn't have planned if we tried. These images are proof that sometimes the unexpected creates something even more beautiful. 😍

Savannah, you absolutely shined. It was such a joy capturing this exciting season of your life, and I couldn't be more excited for all that's ahead of you.

Wishing you the very best in your next chapter and the adventure of a lifetime as you travel abroad! You have a fun and exciting future ahead of you!
