The best stuff is never on the freeway, expressway or toll-way it over there, over that hill or around that corner. You find the best stuff when your lost :)
I'm way behind on writing my thoughts and wandering down so I will pick it up in the Ozarks last spring.

I am here. I may never be here again. I have a day. Where should I go? Pick an large area on the map … Google it … click on Images. Find something that looks cool … ask Siri to take you there. See how frustrated you can make Siri by taking wrong turns. You find the best stuff when you're lost. The b...

Like a lot of us, this rock has been waiting for spring ever since it took out the bean harvester last fall. While we both waited, we explored our more abstract sides.

On a high desert highway, cool wind where I used to have hair
Warm smells of the sagebrush, being whipped in the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw clouds rushing by
My stomach was empty and my soda was gone
I had to go find some lunch

Welcome to the Hotel ‘way north of’ California

My kind of highway :)

San Josef Bay: Finding complete success in total failure.

One of the things I remember from math class is that if you stack just the right amount of negative factors into an equation your result will turn out positive. I am, by nature, a fairly positive person. I find that being negative takes far to much energy and rarely takes me anywhere I want to go. R…

A few thoughts about Photography, Chickens and your Inner Mouse

I often refer to my Blog as 'Gravel & Mud, Deep Thoughts From a Shallow Source'. In other words, this is what I think people should do. Drag your bucket through the puddle, let it settle a while, skim any water you want to keep off the top and through the rest back into the puddle. That being said,…

I have jotted down a few thought I have about what I get from Art & Soul of the Magic Valley (a contest/event that I am sure all of my family and friends are flocking to and supporting ) :)

Here are a few thoughts that are rattling around my head that describe what Art & Soul of the Magic Valley is to me. The BIG picture – Yes it is a contest but at its core, Art & Soul is an attempt to bring people into the Twin Falls area. It is a tool that will, hopefully, raise the cultural awarene…

"A bloke don't need much when he has this...". Words of wisdom from the Pacific Rim.

"A bloke don't need much when he has this." This was told to me by a man with tears in his eyes and a wan smile on his face. I had just arrived at the Wild Pacific Trailhead and was trying to get my own breath back as I watched the sun just trying to rise over the Broken Group Islands of Pacific Rim…

Lights. Camera. Memories Enter Stage Right. Part 1 of ???. Sharing some thoughts from my recent trip to British Columbia.

As I write this, I am sitting on the deck of BC Ferry's 'Coastal Inspiration' doing my favorite thing... watching & listening. Watching the light change the very simple landscape of the ocean as it filters though the clouds. Watching others do the same thing. Watching seagulls circle the deck waitin…

Pictures, paintings, books, poems, displays, corners, bends in the road... all can become doors for our imagination. The ultimate goal for a photographer should be not to create just an image but build an open door for its viewers to step through with adventure waiting on the other side.
I had plenty of time to remember doors my mind had opened over the years as I wandered through the ruins of Chaco Canyon.

When I was quite young, we used to go to my mother’s hometown of Rupert, ID and watch the 4 th of July parade as it circled the town square. The town square was fascinating to me and even though it is in a bit of decline (like many of life’s fascinating things) it still is one of my favorite places…
