Let's Remember Adam STOP for the School BUS

Let's Remember Adam STOP for the School BUS Adam Ranger is our little brother. The objective of this campaign is to make sure this kind of tragedy never happens again.

He was just five years old when he was struck and killed by a truck as he stepped off his school bus just outside his home on Friday February 11, 2000, in Mattawa Ontario. This horrific incident devastated Adam's parents, brothers, and family members, and robbed his friends and classmates of a dear companion. You may have seen these decals on the back of school buses, which feature Adam’s smiling

little face. These decals are also on personal vehicles, and emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and O.P.P vehicles, in the North Bay and Mattawa area. The campaign has expanded to also include other ways of spreading our message. There are billboards in the area and surrounding communities featuring Adam and his message, sponsored by local businesses and associations. Also, many local arenas have the Let’s Remember Adam message on their rink side boards. We sell bumper stickers for Donations towards the campaign. All the money raised goes towards the Let’s Remember Adam STOP FOR THE SCHOOL BUS campaign. As of 2018 Let's Remember Adam is working hard to get stop arm cameras on all school buses in Ontario and even Canada. We are also are pressuring our government to get Amber Eight Lamp Systems on all school buses in Ontario. Ontario is the only province that dose not run this system. If you would like to help please let us know, or contact your local member of Parliament, mayor, councilor or anyone you think that can help. Thank you for joining or visiting our page and please stop for a school bus when it’s stop sign is out or it’s over head lights are flashing. You never know who’s little brother, sister, son, daughter, grandchild or friend is getting off that bus

🚨 ANOTHER SCHOOL BUS COLLISION — THIS TIME WITH 26 CHILDREN ON BOARD 🚨

This morning, a commercial transport truck rear-ended a stopped school bus on Highway 17 in Spanish, Ontario.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, the school bus was stopped with its red lights activated and stop arm fully extended while picking up students when it was struck from behind by the transport truck.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported to the 26 students on board, the school bus driver, or the transport driver. But this incident could have ended very differently.

What makes this incident even more concerning is that Pierre Ranger, Chair of the Let's Remember Adam campaign, spoke today with the mother of the children who were about to board that school bus.

Just a few weeks ago, that same mother had reached out to Pierre expressing her concerns about motorists failing to stop for her children's school bus while they were getting on and off. Like many parents across Ontario, she feared that one day a tragedy could occur because drivers were not paying attention or following the law.

Today, those fears came far too close to becoming reality.

A school bus displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop arm is not just another vehicle on the road. It is carrying our most precious cargo — our children. Drivers must be paying attention at all times, especially when approaching a school bus.

As Acting Staff Sergeant Andre Chenier stated:
"A moment of inattention can have devastating consequences."

At Let's Remember Adam, we know all too well how quickly lives can change. Adam Ranger was killed after getting off his school bus when a motorist failed to stop for the bus's flashing red lights and stop arm. More than 26 years later, incidents like today's remind us why school bus safety awareness remains so important.

We are incredibly grateful that everyone walked away safely today, but this close call should serve as a wake-up call for all motorists.

🛑 Slow down.
🛑 Stay alert.
🛑 Leave plenty of following distance.
🛑 Watch for flashing red lights and stop arms.
🛑 Remember that children's lives depend on the decisions drivers make every day.

No parent should have to wonder if their child will make it safely to and from school.

February 11, 2026 marks 26 years since you were taken from us.

26 long years of not having you here.
Not seeing your smile.
Not hearing your voice.
Not watching you grow up.

And after all this time, it still hurts like that horrible Friday on February 11, 2000.

If you pass a stopped school bus, you are putting a child’s life in danger.
No excuse. No hurry is worth a life.
