🌎 MAFFT 2026 — Multicultural Arts & Food Festival Timiskaming 🎭🍴

On June 13th, 2026, Kirkland Lake came together to celebrate culture, community, music, dance, and incredible food from around the world at MAFFT — the Multicultural Arts & Food Festival Timiskaming.

Originally planned outdoors, a morning of heavy rainfall moved the festivities to the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex, where the Kirkland Lake Multicultural Group (KLMG) hosted an incredible international food experience featuring dishes and flavours representing more than 15 different countries.

The incredible variety of food was only part of what made the day so special. The sense of community, connection, and cultural celebration throughout the event was truly unforgettable.

🇮🇳 Indian Dance performances by Kawalkiranpreet Kaur and Bavneet Kaur

MAFFT brought people together through the universal languages of food, music, art, and culture.

We ended the day with full bellies, rhythm in our hearts, and a deeper appreciation for the many cultures that make our community so special.

A remarkable day for our Kirkland Lake community.

On June 19, 2026, Betty Casino presented an extraordinary donation of $2,001,808.20, to be shared among 15 organizations across Kirkland Lake, creating a lasting impact for countless volunteers, programs, and community members.

Hosted by Wanda Laferriere at the Kirkland Lake Bingo Hall, the event celebrated the incredible work being done by local charities and highlighted the power of giving back.

From youth sports and emergency services to arts, faith groups, and mental health initiatives, these organizations are the heartbeat of our community. And this is only the beginning, with further commitments already on the horizon.

I am especially grateful to be involved with one of the recipients, Save The LaSalle Theatre, and to witness firsthand the difference this generosity will make for generations to come.

✨ Keedan & Aimee’s Stag & Doe ✨

What started as an ordinary day quickly turned into an unforgettable surprise for these two lovebirds. ❤️

Aimee arrived on her dirt bike, with Keedan following behind in their truck, both completely unaware of what was waiting for them. As they pulled in, they were greeted by a yard full of family and friends who had gathered to celebrate them and the exciting journey ahead.

The day was filled with smiles, laughter, happy tears, great food, cold drinks, and memories that will last a lifetime. It was a beautiful reminder of the love and support surrounding this incredible couple as they prepare for their next chapter together.

Here’s to a lifetime of adventures, happiness, and endless memories.

Lori’s memoir, Dreamer’s Daughter, was published by Simon & Schuster on April 7, 2026.

This book reading was held at the Lasalle Theatre in Kirkland Lake on April 18th, 2026, with a strong turnout and generous support through donations that helped make this event possible.
