Who’s got two thumbs and forgot to post about the event this weekend. Yup, this guy.

Saturday I return with my kit to the Green for Wortley Pride 2026. I’ll be on the opposite side of the park this time, doing the same thing. Hopefully a different result.

Come by, say hi, get a photo!

You know, sometimes I doubt myself, like we all do. I don't feel like I can do it, I don't feel like I'm good enough. Then I pull out something like this.

I also included the raw photo for comparison. This turned out absolutely fantastic. A little cropping, a little colour tuning, and we get this gorgeous photo. Then I gain my confidence back.

I know my subject probably didn't want me to post it, but she said I could use the shoot in my portfolio, and I don't like to post pictures of children in public places so... The shoot turned out fantastic, the other photos with the children look amazing, I actually can do a great session!

Shot on my Nikon Z5, with the 85mm S 1.8 lens. That bokeh, and the razor sharp focus. Beautiful.

You know I had a minute to reflect today. Why do I shoot.

It’s pretty simple. Moneys nice, and I do like technology and nerdy stuff like cameras. But the best feeling I get is when a person says “I’m not photogenic…” and I take their picture and they go “Wow!”. THAT is why I shoot. For that minute of “Wow!”. It gives people confidence, that I can bring out that “Wow!” in people. Not through ai, or creative editing either, it’s just enhancing what’s already there.

Truth be told, my editing process is VERY minimal compared to others. I try to shoot perfect out of the camera, so all I have to do is crop and straighten my shots. I’m lazy, I admit it. It’s all about posing and angles.

Comment below, have you had a “Wow!” moment I’ve captured? Post the pictures!

Well this weekend didn’t go nearly to plans. I just have to dust myself off, get up and learn from my mistakes. Hopefully the Wortley Pride event goes better!

This is on Saturday, and I’ll try again at the Photo Booth. I have a whole bunch of props ready, my backdrop is loaded.

But not before I shoot Ryker at the Special Olympics tomorrow! I’m super excited for this event too!

So the keen eyed among you may have noticed a little bit of AWOL action lately. I’ve been hinting at an announcement today, so here it is: I’m relaunching as Daniel Tafferner Photography!

I’ve realized that being the number one search result on google is not going to make my business. I work at a 9-5 job, and they are very successful. Their product isn’t anything new, they carry the same stuff as other places, but they continue to grow.. so I thought “What is the secret?” It’s simple, customer service. We do our best to give each person the best experience possible, and that keeps them coming back.

How does this translate to MY business? I’m going to do the same thing! I know there are lots of other photographers, some more skilled than I. I still want to make this my career, so I need a way to stand out from the crowd. Google is something we rely too much on, and the internet is a huge marketplace for a little guy. I’m done with throwing my name into a football stadium hat and hoping for bites. It’s wasted money in advertising, and I’m just ignored any traction.

So how am I changing this? I’m getting back to the people. If you want to shoot people, go where they are, not where they’re doom scrolling. Sure, I’ll still have this page, and my new website (www.danieltafferner.ca), but more importantly, I’m opening a PHOTO BOOTH! Yep, I have a camera, a printer, and I’m hitting the road with it and a pocketful of business cards. So far I’ll be setting up at Gathering on the Green on June 6, Wortley Pride Festival on June 13, and Market for the Fur Babies on July 11. I’ll also have some prints for sale as well, and maybe by the end of the summer some of my shirts and other merch I sell. The best way to promote my business is to have a 1 on 1 conversation with someone, show them my portfolio, and give them a card, not throwing ads up on Facebook and google and hoping for the best.

My current client base, thank you for standing with me for years. My new clients, I hope to work together in the future!

Here’s a shot I took Saturday of my son. He’s a happy guy.

Dan: Exciting times. So I've decided to rebrand, and make an all new website. Adobe Portfolio was, in my eyes, holding me back. I have much more talent than they could let me show, especially being a web design student. So I switched it up.

https://danieltafferner.squarespace.com (I'm waiting for the DNS entries to redirect to my own domain, it will be www.danieltafferner.ca eventually...)

I'll also be selling t-shirts, and fine art prints on my site, to try and fuel my photography dreams of doing it full time.

If we've shot for you in the past, and still need access to your photos, all is not lost! I have backed up EVERYTHING. Let me know, I will add them to the new website for hosting. I'm just migrating from Adobe, so all of the photos hosted on Adobe Cloud may disappear soon, I'm not sure how they do it. If your links don't work though, have no fear, I have your pictures stored locally, and I can get them back to you!

Looking forward to working with everyone in the future!
