There’s something unsettling about looking out over Tobermory today.

The haze is thicker, the air quality is worse, and the smell of smoke hangs in the air as wildfire smoke from the devastating fires burning across Northern Ontario drifts into our community. It’s a sobering reminder that even when the flames are hundreds of kilometres away, their impact reaches all of us.

My heart goes out to the families who have been forced to evacuate, the firefighters working tirelessly on the front lines, the pets that have been displaced and the wildlife caught in the path of these fires. It’s heartbreaking to see our beautiful blue skies replaced by smoke and to know what so many communities are facing.
