Yesterday was my first day of Christmas minis, and I walked into the studio tired from a week of pouring everything I had into getting it ready.

Then you started walking through the door.

Your smiles. Your hugs. Your reactions when you saw the décors. Your little ones coming in so excited, ready to tell me things and show me how much they’ve grown.

All day long, you filled my cup.

19 sessions later, I went home tired, yes… but mostly, I went home happy. So full of love and gratitude for the people I get to see and the memories I get to be a small part of.

To those who joined me for the first time: thank you for trusting me with your family. And to those who keep coming back: seeing you again, watching your children grow, and knowing you’ve chosen me for another year means more than I can put into words.

I spend so much time thinking about how I want you to feel when you come into my studio. Yesterday reminded me how much you give back to me just by being there.

Thank you for showing up, for sharing your joy, and for making all the work leading up to this day feel so worth it.

Forever grateful for you all. Truly.

Some sets begin with a Pinterest board.
This one began with a person.

My grandfather was an artist.

And when I started dreaming about this year’s Christmas collection, I knew I wanted one of the worlds I created to carry a little piece of him.

A room filled with art.
Frames that don’t quite behave.
Colours, patterns and objects that shouldn’t necessarily work together… but somehow do.
A little unexpected. A little whimsical. A little imperfect.

Because that’s what art has always meant to me.

It’s permission to imagine something that doesn’t exist yet and then figure out how to make it real.

I think that’s also the part of photography I love most. I don’t want to simply create a pretty backdrop. I want to push my imagination. To build worlds. To make something my clients can step inside of and, for a few minutes, become part of the story.

So for my third and final Christmas decor, I let myself play.

I painted. I built. I collected old frames. I created artwork. I mixed stripes with checkers, burgundy with gold, and let cedar grow right through the walls.

And somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like just another Christmas set.

It started feeling like a little love letter to my grandfather.

I wish he could walk into this room.
I think he would understand exactly what I was trying to do.

And I can almost hear us laughing about all the crazy little details.

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Christmas 2026
Every year, when I start creating my Christmas décors, I ask myself the same question: How can I make this year feel even more special?
This year, I wanted to create more than three Christmas sets. I wanted to create three little worlds, each one completely different, each one carrying a little piece of me.
Welcome to Through the Looking Glass.
And this is the first world I’m inviting you into…
The Velvet Room.
Somewhere along the way, these sessions became so much more to me than beautiful Christmas pictures.
I’ve watched your babies become toddlers. I’ve watched families grow. I’ve seen the same little faces come running into the studio year after year, some of them now knowing me simply as the lady with the pink hair.
And I don’t take any of that for granted.
You choose me to capture a tiny piece of your family’s story. Photos that will be framed in your homes, sent to grandparents, pulled out years from now, and someday remind your children what Christmas felt like when they were little.
So this year, I wanted to give you more.
I’ve been working behind the scenes to completely elevate the experience, from three new handcrafted Christmas worlds, to a brand-new website, to a new way of viewing and choosing your photographs after your session.
I want every detail to reflect something I hope you already know:
You are important to me.
The Velvet Room is rich, dramatic and a little unexpected, oversized details, beautiful textures and that magical feeling of Christmas dressed up for somewhere very special.
But the most beautiful part is still missing:
your family.
Because these worlds may begin with pieces of my story, but once you step through the looking glass, the memories created inside them become part of yours.

I cannot wait to welcome back the families who have made this tradition part of their Christmas and to welcome those stepping into my studio for the very first time.
