Playing around with different arrangements of some canvas mockup prints (proofs) I had done a little while back from / for the upcoming Spring Art Show with , that some of my nature photography work will be a part of.

Absolutely love the print quality of these and the subtle texture that is added to each of the photos, on the canvas medium.

What do you think? Should these 3 prints be part of my display? 😊

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

Just some of the other photos, captured at Ultra that were aimed to convey the power of teamwork and of the supportive community in trail races, particularly in some of the long ultra marathon distances.

A sampling of the photos for ' R.E.U Ultra this past fall. What a day. What a race. What an infectiously energetic group of people!

I know one thing is for sure: after seeing this course, the aid stations, and some of the (Type 2) fun the runners had out there, I'm almost torn whether I run part of it this coming fall haha.

Access to the FULL gallery of photos can be found through the link in their () bio.

Sharing a little bit of magic, from earlier this week 🥹

Full of gratitude to witness such an event. As of more recent, I've spent much more time behind the computer than out shooting, so despite the fact I'd went out to find wildlife the other day, I'm glad I stayed open to the possibility of photographing other subjects that peaked my curiosity. While exploring throughout the daytime, I found myself stopping to admire and sometimes pulling out my camera to photograph various manmade structures like grain bins, old dilapidated barns, etc to scratch that creative itch and to try to shake off some of the rust I inevitably built up a bit after so long since my last "nature" focused shoot. And as fate would have it, I discovered this new church while cruising up and down country roads and pinned it on the map "just in case". Well, on the way back to town, I noticed a very vibrant red as I looked out of the corner of the closest window above my side mirror and actually almost ruled it out, at first, as I figured it might've just been a weird reflection of my vehicle's LED dash display. But I decided to roll my window down just in case, and there they were - the red glow persisted. "I KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE!!"... I quickly pulled over to the next available country road, plugged in the pin I'd thankfully saved earlier for this church and made it there shortly after to make an attempt to capture part of this event.

No tripod, no concrete plan, just a fascination for what I was witnessing and a strong desire to capture the beauty of part of it... I looked for my favorite perspectives of the given church, dialed in my settings, adjusted on the fly to the movement of the lights, made a make-shift "tripod" setup out of a camera bag & my phone propping my lens to the desired angles. These are what I managed to create.

These are the types of nights I'll always remember.

Are you unsuccessful if you don't achieve what you set out to do? Is it always that cut and dry? Or, sometimes, is it a matter of perspective?

In other words, if things turned out different than you'd imagined/planned for, are you ready to pivot and make the most of the given circumstances?

Back from a bit of a posting hiatus to share some of the photos I've managed to get for ABJ Scots Football that I've had the privilege of following along this season.

The Scots' season is still going strong, after the league made arrangements to return to play following a short pause, and the team kicked off their playoffs last night with a convincing win in the Quarter Finals.

When I first started the ArtWalk path, Photographer Reg Faulkner of the Faulkner Fine Art Gallery in Fallis and I worked together, so I was never concerned about having a Photography component to the ArtWalk. Reg would have his work on display and invited other great local photographers to join us. Starting over again, I was hopeful that a Photography component would be part of The Gallery Lady Presents ArtWalks, and it is! It’s my delight to welcome photographer Bryce Horn to the Stony Plain ArtWalk 2025.
Bryce is a photographer, artist, and former mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Alberta. Born and raised in the Edmonton area, he has cultivated a diverse range of interests throughout his life — including outdoor pursuits, athletics, academics, and creative expression.

Growing up with a strong support system led by his parents and other role models, Bryce credits several pivotal life moments for revitalizing his creative path, which ultimately led him toward wildlife photography. In 2015, a quad accident unexpectedly revealed an undiagnosed heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW), which had gone unnoticed since birth. The event – often described as a blessing in disguise – allowed him to receive treatment at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute just a few months later and has since been a motivator to continue living a healthy and active lifestyle. In 2022, after many years of painting as a primary creative outlet, Bryce decided to dedicate time and some savings to self-teach photography – a decision that, in hindsight, would act as a needle and thread, weaving many of his independent interests into one even stronger passion.

Bryce draws from his unique blend of creative and technical backgrounds, along with a deep love for the outdoors, to create images that aim to both resonate visually and offer insights into the relationships between wildlife, their natural habitats, and the growing influence of human development.
