When I first started the ArtWalk path, Photographer Reg Faulkner of the Faulkner Fine Art Gallery in Fallis and I worked together, so I was never concerned about having a Photography component to the ArtWalk. Reg would have his work on display and invited other great local photographers to join us. Starting over again, I was hopeful that a Photography component would be part of The Gallery Lady Presents ArtWalks, and it is! It’s my delight to welcome photographer Bryce Horn to the Stony Plain ArtWalk 2025.
Bryce is a photographer, artist, and former mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Alberta. Born and raised in the Edmonton area, he has cultivated a diverse range of interests throughout his life — including outdoor pursuits, athletics, academics, and creative expression.
Growing up with a strong support system led by his parents and other role models, Bryce credits several pivotal life moments for revitalizing his creative path, which ultimately led him toward wildlife photography. In 2015, a quad accident unexpectedly revealed an undiagnosed heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW), which had gone unnoticed since birth. The event – often described as a blessing in disguise – allowed him to receive treatment at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute just a few months later and has since been a motivator to continue living a healthy and active lifestyle. In 2022, after many years of painting as a primary creative outlet, Bryce decided to dedicate time and some savings to self-teach photography – a decision that, in hindsight, would act as a needle and thread, weaving many of his independent interests into one even stronger passion.
Bryce draws from his unique blend of creative and technical backgrounds, along with a deep love for the outdoors, to create images that aim to both resonate visually and offer insights into the relationships between wildlife, their natural habitats, and the growing influence of human development.
