I was asked to “take a few photos.”
So obviously I delivered 230. And I signed the marriage certificate as a witness.
D + G didn’t want a WEDDING wedding. They wanted an afternoon in Prince Edward County during peak lilac season, on the side of a road so covered in purple that the whole thing looked like it wasn’t real. The sky was literally so perfect - completely blue with fluffy white clouds - that it looks edited lol. I promise it isn’t.
These two have been together foreveeerr. They’ve built an amazing family together, they’ve been through it all, and at some point they looked at each other and thought, “Wait, why aren’t we married?” So they did it! Simple as that! And I’m SO HAPPY they included me in this gorgeous ceremony that was so completely them.
I was one of four people who got to stand there and listen to their vows.
I don’t have the words for what that honour feels like. I think you can see it in every single frame.
They’re leaving for France in a few weeks. A new chapter for a family that has let me document so many of theirs. I’ll miss them at every session I don’t get to book with them. But we already made plans — and if my own family’s dream of France ever becomes real, I know exactly who we’re having dinner with.
Thank you for letting me be there. Thank you for being exactly as calm and loving and perfectly yourselves as you always are. It was the greatest honour.
