A Minor Inconvenience has completed its festival run, recognized for best actress. A poetic recognition given what this film is about and what it means to me and so many others.
I had over 40 people involved in this project, many of which were so passionate about the message I was sending with this film. Many people met each other on this project and are still collaborating closely to this day. These 40+ people also believed in me as a new filmmaker, which I hold so close to my heart.
I hope women will watch this film and know that it’s okay to be mad and upset when men remind you that this world was not built in your favour.
I had men who worked on this project approach me after watching the film to tell me my message was received, they see the importance, and they feel more confident to uphold social consequences for the men around them. That they have become more aware of what they can do differently to better support the women in their lives. I hope the other men that see this film take a moment of self reflection to uncover some ways they may be upholding or perpetuating a system they disagree with. The little things add up to become the biggest.
