Quick shout out to this temporary foster! Picked her up Sunday, assessed her - she was spicier than anticipated, sent her off to a foster home that was a good match for her. We will continue to get to know her and let her settle in for the week and then she will be listed for adoption. She is a bred ragdoll. Oh how interesting to read the breeders paperwork.. 😳😳😳

Donkey had to go to the vet again yesterday.. 🥺

Officially introducing The Lion King colony.

Who knows how many litters are in this group. There were 7 females and 2 males on the property when the people who reached out to us moved in. We will work to get them all fixed and the new property owners have agreed for the adults to be returned. The littles have some growing to do and the hyenas have some socialization work to continue but they will be looking for homes soon 🧡

Today, I had to make a decision I never should have had to make.

Fiona and Shrek have been reunited over the rainbow bridge. 🌈💔

Fiona and I fought so hard. We gave it truly everything we had. Before we said goodbye, she enjoyed a sunbath and a little frolic through the plants. Then, with her paws in my hand, she peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge.

Right now, I’m overseeing the care of 32 kittens, with another 18+ waiting to come into rescue. That number would be even higher, but at least 10 kittens have already been killed by coyotes and other predators before we could help them.

It’s time to spay and neuter.

It’s time to donate to spay and neuter initiatives.

It’s time to care.

Because no kitten should have to fight this hard just to survive, and no one should have to make the decision I made today.

Lu getting her money’s worth out of this $300 box.

The box came with a fancy feeder for Luna’s new special diet.

A few weeks ago, Lu was supposed to have her long-awaited dental cleaning. I’d been planning it for years. She spent most of her life eating a dental diet, so her teeth have stayed in great shape. Since she absolutely hates the vet (thanks to some past trauma), the plan was to do bloodwork while she was already under anesthesia and get a good baseline for her senior years.

Instead, the week of her dental, she got really sick.

Her dental was cancelled, and after testing and treatment, Lu was diagnosed with Stage 2 kidney disease.

I swear I’ve spent my whole life trying to prevent kidney disease in my cats. We have water bowls in every corner of the house, and everyone gets their daily “soup” of wet food with extra water.

Thankfully, Lu is feeling much better and is finally having her dental tomorrow. ❤️

If you’ve had a cat with CKD, I’d love to hear your experiences. What foods have worked well? Any supplements you’ve found helpful? How often did your veterinarian recommend fluids? Any tips or little things that made a difference?

I’m ready to learn everything I can to give Lu the best life possible 💜

Officially introducing: Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and Dragon 💚

These four came to us on Monday, June 15, at approximately 10 days old. Their mom was a feral cat, and unfortunately they were separated from her far too soon. They came into care quite sick, with their eyes glued shut from an upper respiratory infection.

They have continued to face health struggles, and it has truly been day by day, feed by feed. Despite everything, they are full of personality, have the ittiest bitty purrs, and are constantly on the move.

Please send these little ones all the good vibes as they continue to fight… and maybe send me the energy to keep up with the endless laundry and need to feed myself too. 😅🤪
