Hundreds of red kokanee are making their journey to spawn in the streams they were born in. Once the eggs are laid and fertilized, the female covers them with gravel. These eggs will hatch approximately 100 days later.

These Western Grebe parents have 3 hungry mouths to feed. This youngster is eager to get his share. Western grebes nest on freshwater lakes and marshes edged with reeds and rushes. They eat mostly fish, crustaceans, insects, worms and even salamanders. Photographed in Salmon Arm, BC
