Hey Facebook World! It's been a hot minute since I've posted. Kathleen Fisher Photography has been busy photographing weddings, events, families, and businesses!

It's about time I share some of the magic captured this past year.

To start, here are a few sneak peeks from a STUNNING wedding at Revelstoke Mountain Resort in May. This beautiful couple had planned their wedding at Quuout Lodge, which sadly had to shut down 6 days before their wedding due to the fire. But, between the couple and their amazing friends/family, they managed to replan their entire wedding in less than a week! And what a venue to sn**ch up!

I’ve always considered my Mom to be one of my hero’s. Her selfless abundance of care is just one of the amazing traits she possesses. She’s always unconditionally cared for us kids, her grandchildren, her family, her friends, her neighbours and even complete strangers, with all of her heart.

For me, her finest display of this has been the past 1.5 years when the feared “c” word came into our lives and rattled us all. Although devastated by the news and the ever-changing health journey, my Mom naturally and without hesitation, stepped into the care-giving role - and she nailed it.

I’ve spent my entire life watching my parents in their day-to-day routine. Witnessing their small acts of love, affection and friendship - Instilling the standard that I’ve strived for in my own relationships. Seeing my Mom support my Dad (and our entire family) through this challenging curveball, gave me a whole new perspective on true, unconditional love.

To say “I love you” is one thing, to truly mean it and live it is another. What I witnessed is too intimate for words, but I’m sure one can imagine. My Mom is my rock and I will forever be grateful for her being my Dad’s as well.

So here’s to my Rosie ❤️

Yesterday the world lost an incredible man and I lost my father.

In his final days, he reminded us that life is not about the quantity of years lived but the quality of years lived. When reflecting on my Dad, it’s so easy to see that his life was overflowing with endless quality.

I have so much I want to say, but in the same breath, I’m struggling to put my thoughts into words. Words good enough to express my love and gratitude for this man.

For now I will keep it simple….I am so grateful for his constant life lessons, all of the beautiful memories shared - both big and small, and the incredible traits he’s passed down to my brother and I and his grandchildren.

My dad has always been so proud of me, his family and his friends, and I’ll always be so damn proud of him and the legacy he so passionately created.

Thank you to everyone for your support during this difficult time. To my clients, I truly appreciate your patience as I navigate this loss.

Dad, you will be so dearly missed by not only me, but your wife Rose Fisher, your son Derek Fisher, daughter-in-law Jessica Fisher, granddaughter Mya and grandson Jordie , your daughter-in-law Alex O'Daly and so so so sooooooo many others.

They say a good neighbour increases the value of your property. If that’s the case, these 3 (plus so many others) have added immeasurable amounts of value to my childhood home where my parents still reside. I’m humbled by our neighbours and their selfless acts to help ease my parent's lives, not only this year but ever since we moved to the neighbourhood nearly 30 years ago.

Aspect Film Works and I are so excited to be back living in the same neighbourhood, building our community of friends and support. It’s really quite amazing how a good neighbour can aid in a house feeling like a home 🏡

Happy Tuesday friends! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted.

Aspect Film Works and I decided to move into our new home on the hottest recorded day in Kamloops history (48 degrees - yikes) Shortly after we sat down in our new living room after a gruelling move, we received word that a forest fire broke out near our old townhouse we still owned. So we hopped in our car and rushed out to find our entire complex evacuating and packing emergency bags. We rushed in and grabbed the few remaining items we had left behind to move on a different day (childhood memory boxes, our mountain bikes and snowboards) We got out just as emergency personnel were closing down our road.

We barely slept a wink that night, worrying about our home, our neighbours and our entire community. We awoke the next morning absolutely exhausted and depleted and of course, had a special wedding to photograph and film. I’ll be honest, I woke up and cried - if there was ever an excuse for a “personal day off” this would be my time to use it.

But! Samantha and Jared have been such an easy-going and genuine couple from the very beginning. Their beautiful personalities made it easy for Alex and I to muster up the energy and excitement to be apart of their wedding. Not to mention - they also had to evacuate the night before their wedding while also dealing with the uncertainty of their reception being held in the very same neighbourhood as the fire.

They say that from the chaos, beauty will flow. This wedding sure proved that true! Despite everyone’s challenges leading up to this day, it was truly beautiful from start to end.

Aspect Film Works and I couldn’t be more honoured to capture these special milestones for our couples.

Samantha and Jared, congratulations again on your stunning wedding. We are so so so happy for you both ❤️

Seriously...so often throughout my workday, I stop and take in my surroundings and feel so grateful that I live/work in such a diverse and uniquely beautiful part of the world. I especially love our sunsets.

We couldn’t have asked for a better one for Jennine & Calvin’s engagement session. This evening was pure perfection 😍

Although this was an emotionally hard project to work on, it was so inspiring to meet Rocker and hear his personal story in such raw detail.

“Life was made for good friends and great adventures.”

Aspect Film Works and I were lucky to combine the 2 when we captured this special wedding in Port Elliott, Australia for Alice & Cam. I met Alice through Alex’s good childhood friend, Rachel, while in Whistler. Alice, like so many Australians, was living the winter ski dream in Canada. Her warm, caring personality immediately drew me in (and her wonderful contagious laugh!) It’s no wonder Cam fell hard for her when they met in Vegas a few months earlier!

Who would have thought that their chance meeting in Vegas would lead us all to Australia (where they are both from) to celebrate their wedding just a few years later.

This particular location held so much significance for Alice, who grew up vacationing here with her family, and where her and Cam spent time falling more in love with each other.

It was such an honour to spend the weekend exploring this piece of paradise with Alice, Cam, their families and so many of their friends (many of which Alex went to school with!)

I will never forget this great adventure, the good friends made and the epic dancing & singing party that capped off the remarkable wedding.

From their engagement session in Vancouver, to their insanely fun wedding in Mexico, it’s been such an honour to photograph these two and their families during some of life’s most special milestones. I cannot wait to meet their handsome new addition to the clan, Archie 😍

PS - Shane and Maggie got married 2 days before Hannah and Geoff in Mexico (last weeks post) and this allowed Aspect Film Works and I to capture both of their weddings! Now that’s what I call perfect timing! 🙏🏼🌴🍹

Anyone else missing travel and hanging out with their pals?! Today I’m flashing it back to Hannah and Geoff’s incredible wedding in Tulum, Mexico.

Another classic Aussie and Canadian love story for the books! These two invited close to 90 of their friends and family from Australia, Canada & beyond, to come celebrate with them in the tropical paradise of Tulum. Although Aspect Film Works and I were there to capture the magic with our cameras, we were also lucky to have a holiday with a massive group of our friends. Even one of our best friends was there to celebrate her 30th birthday (Shayna Leigh❤️)

This memorable trip took place just 3 months before the Canadian borders closed down due to COVID-19.

Hannah & Geoff, thank you for giving us all such a special, jam-packed social experience before the world went into isolation mode.

Flashing it back to this special maternity session with Lana and Ryan, as their family first began to grow. Soon after this, they welcomed their beautiful daughter Sophia into the world. It’s been such a joy to watch her grow into a gorgeous little gal. Just a few days ago, Sophia grew into big sister with the arrival of her handsome baby brother, William!

A huge congratulations to the Wood Family. We are so so so happy for you all ❤️

To me, this quote perfectly suits Delina and Charles. They met at Sun Peaks many years ago, and have since created such a beautiful life there with two gorgeous little girls. It’s been an honour to photograph some of their special milestones and to watch their family adventure right outside their back door. Whether it’s skiing down the slopes or biking along the dirt trails, there doesn’t seem to be an activity their spunky little girls won’t try!

Reminiscing about our Fisher family holiday in Revelstoke. I’m feeling extra grateful that we were able to sneak away to one of our “happy places” to create beautiful memories together. Biking every day, home-cooked meals (paired with good craft beer), board games and endless laughter - it was pure perfection.

We’ve grown by 1 since this special getaway, Jordie arrived the very next month! I cannot wait for our next family adventure with him 🙏🏼❤️

Jackie & Alex, a Tinder success story for the books. If it wasn’t for this app, these two probably wouldn’t have met. Pretty wild eh?

They instantly hit it off on their 1st date and then spontaneously decided to drive 5 hours to Five Guys just to get cheeseburgers for their 2nd date. They spent the entire drive getting to know one another on a deeper level and this is when their love story really began.

Fast forward...Alex eventually reached out to me with a beautiful proposal plan. He was spoiling Jackie to a wine tasting experience in Kelowna and planned to finish off at one of their favourite wineries (CedarCreek Estate Winery) where I would be hiding in the bushes overlooking Okanagan Lake, with my camera ready to capture the moment. With no hesitation, Jackie said YES!!

It’s been an honour to not only capture the surprise proposal, but also their engagement photos and of course, their absolutely stunning wedding day at White Lake Weddings.

Now onto the next chapter, parenthood! 😍

A Canadian and a Australian fall in love 😍 We’ve all heard this story before, am I right?!

I swear that’s not the only reason I loved photographing this gorgeous couple’s special day. Kjerstin and Michael hosted their Canadian wedding at a place that I have been lucky enough to camp at and explore since I was a newborn. Lac Le Jeune is a quick and beautiful 25 minute drive from Kamloops (my hometown)

I still remember this day so vividly. As I stepped out of the car upon arrival, my lungs were filled with crisp fresh air and all I could smell was the nearby pine trees. I was flooded with fond memories of camping with my family and friends over the years. Birds were chirping, or maybe it was the chipmunks I could hear (let’s hope it wasn’t a cougar lingering in the forest 😂) As I took in the smells and sounds of one of my “happy places” I felt overwhelmed with gratitude that Kjerstin and Michael invited me to photograph their wedding and that this was just one of the many perks of my career.

I am humbled to photograph these milestones for couples and to be able to travel the world while doing so. I truly am blessed 🙏🏼

One would think this elopement happened in the heart of winter, but it was actually October 1st. The couple (and all of us vendors) awoke to a snow storm that caused some very unexpected curveballs.

The bride could barely get into town for her hair and make up appointment at Chatters Salons as the dirt road to the resort was completely snowed in and covered in fallen trees.

Aspect Film Works and I were asked if we drove a 4x4 truck and were suggested to bring along a chainsaw for the drive up to the property in case we had to remove more fallen trees (neither of which we had! 😂)

After a white knuckled drive up the long dirt road (without cell reception or a single soul in sight) our trusty Subaru got us to the stunning Echo Valley Ranch & Spa safely, and just in the nick of time for the snowy ceremony!

This GORGEOUS resort offers delicious farm to table meals and even they had to quickly adapt when they awoke to their garden covered in a few feet of snow!

Despite all the curveballs that were tossed at this elopement, it turned out to be a truly magical day! And likely one of the most memorable and unique experiences we’ve ever had on a wedding day!

It was such an honour to photograph their true elopement at Sun Peaks Resort in collaboration with Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre during our 2020 pop up elopement day.

Jess & Dave, congratulations again. We are so happy you two beautiful souls found one another and that you didn’t let the pandemic restrictions get in the way of your plans to marry. Here’s to a lifetime of endless love, laughter and dancing ❤️

11 years ago I was backpacking around Australia with this beautiful bride. We both had our 1 year working visas and planned to explore as much of the stunning country as we could in that time. But, little did we know, that Genevieve would end up meeting the love of her life just a few months before we took off overseas. We managed to spend 3 incredible months exploring together before the long distance phone calls were no longer enough, she had to get back to Canada and give this guy Jason a real chance - and thank goodness she did! This past summer, Gen & Jason eloped on our Canadian Sunshine Coast along with 2 of their best friends, and Aspect Film Works and I capturing the magic.

To see a relationship start from the very early stages and watch it blossom into a long lasting, sincere and passionate true love story is such a profound experience. Gen, thank you for showing me how following your heart can lead to remarkable outcomes ❤️

Disclaimer - I wasn’t ready to leave Australia after 3 months so I stayed and backpacked around the rest of the country myself. I didn’t make it the full 12 months, but I managed to sneak in another visit with Alex O'Daly and I’m almost certain that aided in us being together today. It’s really quite beautiful how everything happens for a reason 🙌🏼

These two stunners, along with so many other couples, have had to patiently wait for covid-19 restrictions to ease in order for them to have their dream wedding day. I truly hope 2021 brings us all good health, good company and countless good times.

Happy Monday everyone! It's time to introduce our next Kamloops Caremonger. Meet Amber Hardy, owner of River City Early Learning Centre.

3 months ago, when it felt like our entire world was shutting down, Amber and her dedicated team opened their doors with welcoming arms. While so many essential service workers were left scrambling for childcare, these ladies saw an urgent need for safe and reliable care and offered their services to absolutely ANYONE needing them, regardless of whether they were a current client or not. To Amber and the team at River City Learning Centre, thank you for stepping up and going above and beyond for the kids and parents in our community. Kamloops is lucky to have you!
