Seabird nesting site at Rathlin.

Around Rathlin during nesting season there are an estimated 250,000 seabirds breeding here. The visible rocky areas are used by Guillemot, Razorbill, Black-legged Kittiwake and Fulmar. The Atlantic Puffins will use the grassy areas to make their burrow nests.

It was definitely not the spectacle it would have been a few weeks ago when these birds are present in their thousands but it's still a stunning area to visit.

Spin your device around to see the whole island

A Wee day trip over to Rathlin Island.
Its a L shaped land mass about 6miles long and a mile wide.
Known for some unique wildlife, all of which I didn't plan to see so I'm not disappointed đŸ˜…

There is a RSPB reserve at West Light. Here during breeding season you can witness thousands of seabirds using the cragy cliffsides for nesting. Kittiwake, Guillemot, Razorbills, Fulmar and the iconic Puffins. There were a number of Kittiwake and Fulmar around and I did see 7 Gannet flying by.

Taking the Puffin bus from the ferry terminal is an ideal way to navigate the tiny roads around the island to the lighthouse and reserve. You can book you car onto the ferry but I wouldn't recommend it.
Bikes can also be rented which wouldn't be so bad, although you have to get out of the way for vehicles.

First time being here and I highly recommend it.
