I often look for abstracts in nature as it is easy to do, but also takes me to a different mindset from just looking for landscapes. This image I made by looking carefully into a swirling stream this last spring. The reflections were beautiful but always blurred by the action in the water. I choose a high shutter speed to freeze the action and this is the result. "Rippling Stream Fantasy".

Ok .. it's a Holiday Monday and now 5:00 pm. It's raining with gusting winds. I can't go for a bike ride. What can I do? Well, how about putting my camera on a tripod, select a long shutter speed and photograph wet gasses blowing in the wind.

Several years ago I took this photograph from a hill top view looking over to Darlings Island from the Norton Shore side of the river where I live. It was early morning and the mist in the foreground was hiding the Hampton marsh with just the tree tops on the island emerging through the mist. The hills of Burnsville area showing softly in the background. "Emerging" was featured in my exhibition at Gallery 78 titled "Etherial". Prints of this image are still available. Sometimes I feel my photography slips into a dark -zone, but in a good way, like this image I took very early this morning along the edge of the river near my home.

Sometimes a late evening walk in the forest along the edge of the Kennebecasis River like I did last night, is a good thing. If you bring your camera with you then all the better. This image I titled " Little Stream at River's Edge" As always with art to quote painter Fred Ross, "It's all about the light!".

This early morning photograph I just took in the Wolfville, Nova Scotia dykelands reminds me of a Van Gogh painting with the deep warm colours , freshly ploughed fields and dark shadows.

Here are 2 more photographs from "Viva Mexico" my latest exhibition at Gallery78 in Fredericton, NB. This first shot shows a rider on full gallop in the desert. Note: I captured the horse at the exact moment where it had only one hoof on the ground.
The second shot was taken at a much more scenic location with a lake and trees. I followed the cowboys out to where they were checking up on their ranch animals and pasture lands.

This is another image from my Street Photography Exhibit at Gallery 78 in Fredericton, NB, Canada. It was part of the PHOTO EAST Festival. This was taken on Valentine's Day. We have here 3 couples eating at street burger stand and just as I was to take the picture the couple on the left kissed. This is what you call good luck, but that's the way it happens if you keep your camera busy in the streets of Mexico.

Picture taken in San Miguel de Allende on one of our annual photo workshops there. www.sanmiguelphotoworks.com [email protected]

This is an image from my new Exhibition titled "Viva Mexico". Two cowboys passing each other on a bright morning in San Miguel de Allende. The background is the old Spanish fortress which is now the library . The blue shirt on the man on the left in contrast with the bright yellow wall adds bunch and life to the image.

VIVA MEXICO is at Gallery 78 in Fredericton , NB, Canada until June 27th.
