When Joarla walks into her old childhood bedroom today, she’s not there to sort through her childhood possessions; she’s there for quality control. She used to call this colonial building home but now it houses her family’s larimar production factory.
She moves about between the rooms with the artisans, picking out stones, checking brilliance, measuring settings, deciding on finishing touches - she does it all knowing that this is where her family’s business started and has continued to grow.
Inside this small space, her tiny pieces are crafted by the hands of men who have worked for the Caridad family for years. Together they’re committed to protecting larimar, stewarding it well, and elevating its status from a simple rock to a prized Caribbean gem.
