This picture of me reminded me of my mom. I was surprised by what she wrote- her fear, nervousness and stress of becoming the President of a Chamber of Commerce. She always spoke highly of her achievement and I don’t remember hearing the burden of it. She wrote “I looked confident.” Not, I was confident. I reflect on the idea of “believe in yourself” and I stand by the claim that it is a fundamental principle everything else is built from. It is overused and I remember rolling my eyes at how corny it is to say but as I get older, I appreciate how rare it is I meet others who believe in themselves to their core. I’d be lying if I said I was there, but I am working on believing in myself. I am convinced it is worth the effort. I respect my mom’s experience. I still wish she’d been excited, energized and grateful for becoming president. I’m grateful she recognized her beauty, maybe I can do the same…

There’s a difference between working out and training with purpose.

Had the opportunity to create this piece for a personal trainer here in Hamilton whose athletic background includes competing at the Worlds Triathlon level.

What stood out to me wasn’t just the strength or intensity… it was the discipline behind it. Years of competing at a high level leave their mark: attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to keep pushing when things get uncomfortable.

That’s what I wanted this video to capture.

I’ve always loved using photo and video to tell the story behind the person.
