I have a newfound respect for aerial photographers. One of the most insane experiences I’ve ever had. It was ridiculously challenging to take photos hanging out of a helicopter at 4,000 feet, but in the absolute best way possible. As a Jurassic Park obsessed kid growing up, this was a dream come true.

One of the most unique set of images in my portfolio. Wildfires throughout BC created unique lighting conditions during this trip to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, providing pinkish and salmon-coloured backdrops to the incredible wildlife and scenery on offer in the area. Strangely the colours and stillness in these shots always gives me a feeling of tranquility, despite the negative connotations of what’s on show.

You can now shop the ‘Wildfire’ series and add some of this pastel-coloured chaotic tranquillity to your walls.

PRINTS AVAILABLE!

One of the most inspiring views I’ve laid eyes on. Mount Assiniboine was a destination I’d had on the bucket list for a while and was fortunate enough for the stars to align back in 2020, giving me the opportunity to tick off this iconic hike. The hike in darkness in prime grizzly territory, losing a toenail from the hiking and dent in the wallet are now all distant memories. All that remains is the beauty of this place burnt into my memory. Oh… and the photography! I can’t think of many views more worthy of a space on the wall.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT - PRINTS AVAILABLE

I’ve finally opened my own print shop! For the launch I have curated a selection of 25 original pieces that should offer an injection of life in a variety of different spaces throughout your home, office or business. Regular, canvas, framed and metal prints available.

Leading the collection are these recent shots of The Black Tusk - an iconic peak in the Garibaldi range here in BC defined by an epic spire of volcanic rock left over from an extinct stratovolcano.

To celebrate the launch I’ve set up a 20% friends and family discount on all sales. Code valid until end of Feb 28th, 2022.

The abundance of dying salmon (and unbelievable stench) at the local rivers here in BC right now is evidence that we’re at the end of the salmon run, and a reminder to me of my time spent in Alaska’s southern peninsula. A place where salmon truly is life. It’s one of the best spots in the world for fishing… you just have to share the water with 600 lb grizzlies!

It’s honestly mad to think that it has been two whole years since our trip to Alaska. Our last proper adventure. Two years since stepping foot on a plane even and over two years since we saw family/friends/home because of it. Two years since we lived life on our terms. Flicking through these photos from our time in Denali National Park was a nice reminder of what absolute freedom felt like. The grins on our faces, the new places and experiences - in our happy place. Look forward to getting back there.

So this one has been a bit of a labour of love… it’s almost a year to the day that we jumped into a helicopter and catapulted ourselves into one of the most epic places the Rockies has to offer. Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park really left its mark on me. So much so that I’m still constantly reminiscing about the trip. I guess for one reason or another it has taken almost a year to put the place into words - getting a puppy may have played a part. In this blog post I take another stab at some creative writing, share an extended glimpse into the trip through some photography and offer some info that you may find useful if contemplating a visit. Also just recently added a few new snaps to the photography section on my website. If you fancy a read, take a look on a desktop/laptop for ultimate viewing pleasure.

Assiniboine Provincial Park serves up some of the best trails and views that the Canadian Rockies has to offer. Here’s a few tales, some photos of my experiences within the park and some pointers for a first-time visit - even during a pandemic!
