I've been spending some time revisiting older portraits and re-editing them with fresh eyes. It's funny how photographs can sit in an archive for years before you're finally ready to see them differently.

Looking back through these images reminded me how much I love creating fine art portraiture.

Portraits that focus on mood, light, color, and emotion as much as the subject itself. With a few more years of experience behind me, I found myself drawn to details I might have overlooked the first time around.

These are familiar photographs, but they feel new again. And perhaps more importantly, they've reminded me that fine art portraiture is something I'd like to spend more time creating.

There’s something special about creative friendships that don’t stay in one lane.

From music to photography, we’ve spent years supporting, experimenting, and creating off and on.

I revisited some old photos recently and gave them a new edit—it felt like seeing our growth all over again.

Excited for our next photography project together… feels like we’re just getting started.

There’s something so special about photographing the connection between a mother and her boys.

The laughter, the chaos, the quiet moments in between. 🤍

These sessions are never just about pictures. They’re about freezing a season of life that passes far too quickly.

So grateful I got to capture these memories for this beautiful family.

A close encounter with one of the most intelligent birds in Nova Scotia the American Crow.

Often misunderstood or overlooked, crows are incredibly social, curious, and capable of recognizing human faces for years.

They remember kindness, hold grudges, solve problems, and communicate with one another in ways we’re still learning to understand.

Up close, the details are impossible to ignore. The deep iridescence in the feathers, the sharp awareness in their eyes, and the quiet confidence they carry.

Less a symbol of darkness and more a reminder that intelligence and wildness exist all around us, if we slow down enough to notice.

A quiet little moment with a Canada Jay here in Nova Scotia’s evergreen forests.

Sometimes called the “whiskey jack,” these birds are incredibly intelligent and perfectly adapted to life in the north, surviving long winters by hiding thousands of food caches throughout the woods months before the snow arrives.

With their soft grey colouring and calm, curious nature, Canada Jays always seem to blend into the landscape around them.

Spotting one perched among the spruce felt like catching a small glimpse of the quiet magic that exists in our Maritime forests.

There’s something almost ancient-looking about a Pileated Woodpecker perched against an empty sky.

With their striking red crest, sharp call, and powerful hammering echoing through the forest, they feel less like a backyard bird and more like something from another era.

Pileated Woodpeckers are among the largest woodpeckers in North America, capable of carving massive rectangular holes into dead trees while searching for carpenter ants hidden beneath the bark.

Despite their size and unmistakable appearance, they’re surprisingly elusive — often heard long before they’re seen.

Moments like this feel quiet, wild, and incredibly lucky to witness.

There’s something incredible about watching an Osprey hunt.

Built almost entirely for fishing, these birds can dive straight into the water at high speeds and emerge moments later with a fish locked in their talons.

Even more fascinating, they have reversible outer toes that help them grip slippery prey mid-flight.

Ospreys are one of nature’s great comeback stories too. After major population declines decades ago, conservation efforts helped bring them back across many coastal areas and waterways.

Seeing one this close always feels a little wild and prehistoric, like watching pure instinct in motion.

Okay but can we talk about these rainy-day portraits for a second? ✨🌧️

The weather could not have been more perfect for Sheldon and Maria’s outdoor photos. The rain softened everything, the light, the colours, the atmosphere, and turned an ordinary Sunday afternoon into something that felt straight out of a film.

Wet pavement, misty air, quiet little moments between the two of them… every frame felt intimate, timeless, and effortlessly beautiful. Sometimes you plan for sunshine, but the rain shows up and gives you something even better.

These are easily some of my favourite images from the day. 🤍

It was such a joy to capture this beautiful family.

There is something incredibly meaningful about intentionally stepping in front of the camera with the ones you love most.

Every pose was thoughtfully guided, but what truly stands out is their connection. The way they hold each other, the softness in their expressions, the steady kind of love that feels safe and certain.

Their sweet pups are not just pets, they are family. Being trusted to document a love like this, in this season of life, is always an honour.

These are just a few glimpses into a session filled with warmth, intention, and so much love.
