Busy 🐝 over here! Lots of editing, emails, timeline assistance & reviewing of family photo lists 📝 This job is so much more than pushing a button!

But even with some of that overwhelm, I’d still choose this over the job I told myself I “should” have. It’s been a little over 2 years since I left that position and it feels fantastic.

Leaving a job is easier said than done. I know. It was two years of planning and stressing before I started making moves. But if you’re unhappy at a job that you’re giving 40+ hours of your life to, it’s time to start considering other possibilities and paths for your life ♥️

I’m not an exception. If I did it, under a mountain of self-doubt, you can too 😘

Sunrises & forehead kisses ♥️ This session with Hilary and Jon is one of only two sunrise sessions that I’ve done. I’m hoping to find another brave couple to meet up in the wee hours of the morning to create some magic with ✨ Any takers? We’re guaranteed to have a trail to ourselves + we can get hash browns after? 😏

Guys, when I left my ‘corporate job’ to pursue photography full-time, I made sure that I had enough money saved to float me for one whole year. You know, just in case business wasn’t booming.

Then Covid-19 happened.

The Universe, my friends, has a very silly sense of humour 🤦🏼‍♀️

But you know what? I’m extremely grateful that the stress of this pandemic wasn’t exacerbated by working a job that didn’t bring me any joy. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately ♥️

What has this past year helped you realize?

Hunnies, I know it’s been January for a few days now so this post is a bit belated, but it doesn’t change the fact that we made it 🥳 We have left 2020 in our rearview and tiptoed into 2021 with cautious optimism.

Though 12:01am on January 1st wasn’t the magic fix we all wished it could be, we’re inching closer to the time we can all be together again without masks or worry.

So I hope that you’re all hanging in there and being kind to yourself (& to others) as we continue to move through this new normal. We still need that kindness more than ever ♥️

Oh, you know, just an impromptu engagement session on a Monday afternoon 😍❄️ Jackie & Matty really wanted to do their photos on a rink this winter, but with restrictions changing so often we weren’t sure if it was in the cards. So, after such a beautiful snowfall yesterday, we connected and decided we shouldn’t let it go to waste ♥️ I had to resist going full Christmas vibes with them - buuuut I’m still in love with these 🙊

Oh, and lets take a moment to honour Matt’s Movember stache 😂

Got out of the house last night & went to Ikea 🤩 We went with friends of ours and we were loud & silly, racing around, throwing plush sharks at each other. But we had fun - and damn it, we need fun these days ♥️

I haven’t shared a black & white photo in quite some time. I felt like they were getting lost in the feed with all the colour photos and that just didn’t feel fair to the image. When I’m editing, the photos that get chosen for black & white are the ones that hit me right in the feels. The feeling itself is hard to explain but I know it strikes a very specific chord in my heart. This photo of Drew’s grandma feels so special to me. The way she’s looking at her grandson & great granddaughter - she just radiates love. And prior to this year, the mask she’s wearing would seem odd or out of place. But now, for Madi & Drew, it’s a subtle reminder of the time we were living in when they celebrated their love. ⁣⁣
